Story (TSDR):
I feel the new quality of life possibilities can balance well with the need of base defense.
Sending all where needed in machines or already in the continers with a keypress gave me live without automation (like belts and inserters)
till I felt I have the researches to build a factory site with buildings and roads with the logistical steam-trucks.
All well within red science (2dn level).
Thanks to Ammo/Fuel loader researches, my furnaces were kept stocked with 10 refined fuels, I've built modular factories, while exploring my island, collecting and repairing some useful ruins, automatically in my inventory.
From that time I've set up turrets.
Able to use blueprints, and group mining with the death drones is also helpful.
You just need to use the keybinds.
The next hurdle was dwinding resources. To explore other islands, and don't ruin my meager stone-economy, I've just reached the Monitor Ship research.
then I went around, finding another big island just beside me, and a lucky water-logged tiberium patch, which doesn't spreads.
Blue cards gave me a bit of work, but yellow cards were my biggest project, with their satellites I must launch.
