IRL Power Saver

Finally, TRUE eco-friendly Factorio! Crashes on startup to save up to 500W of gaming power - unlike those EVIL AI mods using 1Wh per query. Your moral superiority is guaranteed!

g What PC uses 500W?

My PC uses like 100-200W max, even when gaming with the lights on (which as we all know, are 90% of the electricity cost)

Are you using a laptop? It is not uncommon for mid range gaming PCs to use that power while gaming, especially when considering monitors and PSU efficiency. See https://solartechonline.com/blog/how-much-electricity-does-gaming-pc-use/ for some example calculations. Have you ever used a power meter for your PC setup? It can be eye-opening!

Also not sure if you are serious about the lights, but LED lights are very efficient and barely use any power, unless you are talking about incandescent bulbs.

especially when considering monitors

Their power draw is negligible compared to a desktop CPU or GPU, especially if you lower the brightness instead of playing in flashbang mode. My 1080p LCD monitor uses around 10 watts.

Yes, monitors don't have to use a lot of powers just like computers don't have to. But if you have large screen 4k monitors with high refresh rate ("gaming monitors") and not one but 2 of them, that can easily be 100W on it's own.

Not sure what the point is you are trying to make. I agree with the premise that data centers use a lot of energy overall. And also with the premise that energy shouldn't be wasted.

Also, this needs to be looked at in a more nuanced way because data centers are highly centralized entities, that bundle the usage of many consumers, so it makes more sense to look at energy requirements of individual contributions (what I did in the original comparison), e.g. what does one query cost. Because at the end of the day nobody would build a data center in the long run if nobody was using their services like AI and cloud computing.
