Been stumped on this for a while, as far as I know, to make sillicon wafers, I need to smelt glass.... Except I can't smelt glass in any type of furnace, including ones included in F+. Am I doing something wrong?

Heya,

Smelt sand into glass, then smelt glass into silicon wafers.

It's much like iron ore into iron plates and smelting again into steel.

Thanks for the response! But that's what I've been trying with no luck. Anytime I try to place a glass pane in any kind of furnace, it says it cannot be smelted.

Even trying to use inserters still does nothing.

Hmm, I just checked on latest now (0.2.90) and it seems to work.

Are there any other mods running alongside it that may be altering these?

I don't think so... every other mod is more of a QoL mod, apart from F+, nothing should be modifying items.

There should be bauxite, glass panes and barrels in there too. When you turn off the other mods have you tried resyncing the save? Otherwise I'm unsure as it's fine on the last few versions.

Sorry, I meant sillicon wafers, not glass panes. I can smelt glass just fine, I can smelt literally everything except wafers.... I resynced after disabling mods and still nothing

I also encountered a similar issue. You need glass panes to make silicon wafers, not just glass.
Glass is made from stone-processed sand, while glass panes are made from sand mined outside.
Although they share the same name, they are not the same thing.
My current problem is that I can't make glass panes because there's no technology available to unlock them yet.

I'm able to smelt them now, although I'm not sure what fixed it. If I had to guess, I'd say that probably resyncing it again fixed it for me.

EDIT: Installing AAI Industries actually fixed it for me. Tried to smelt with the mod disabled, and it broke it again for me.

This also breaks smelting sand into glass, since AAI has their own glass, so I'm back at square one.

Heya,

I've looked through the mod, sand is produced as "sand-ore", glass is "glass-plates".
Stone being smashed into sand is still the same sand-ore that is mined.

Most likely there is some mod (QoL or otherwise) is creating the conflict with F+ . Checking your order of the mods, and disabling them and then resyncing a save is your best bet.

This mod, self contained by itself works without issue.
