g ✅ Trains 6061 alum

I love the mod so far! Currently near the end of the green science pack.

I just unlocked trains and started building rails. However, to make locomotives I need alum 6061 which requires rare metal. Rare metal is unlocked after blue science.

Is it possible to change the recipe so that locomotives can be made at the point in the science tree (or change the tree to add it later)?

Or, ofcourse, am I missing something ;-)

Thanks!

I am literally only laying first tracks now at the end middlegame. But, I wanted cheap solar panels. Same problem. You'll find that there is more than enough from the meteorites that pepper your base for a few trains, unless you are much, much faster than me. Have fun puking the "highly lethal natural uranium" out as you go hunting them though...

Oh yeah, and like gold it comes from core mining - I started getting rare metal income long before I unlocked it and have actually never mined it.

I feel tracks are necessary to get to the larger patches not at the start. I also play x4 recipe so maybe I feel the need to go to other ore patches "earlier" in the tree. I did instantly "automate" rails. I will follow your advise to gather asteroids and cry about uranium ;-)

I have loads of gold and silver already (there's a gold recipe from copper) and "automated" solar panels and efficiency modules first thing to prevent large scale pollution

Yeah, I saw that. Never used it. If there were two constants about my pre-launch base, it was short of aluminium from building a 90 wide bus once I realised bots were a distant dream, and short of copper.

I did suck up some patches, but the great thing about core mining and circuit based voiding of multi-warehouse stockpiles, is that you can plan for a few hours or mess about with some land negotiations with the indigenous folk, then come back and spend all the resources which built up.

I found that the negative pollution buildings, especially running on the "inefficient" water only mode, were OP compared to efficiency modules. But maybe that's a little bit further down the road

That's a breaking change from from K2. We need to undo that in ATOM.
