GIZMOD Modules
All modules, add-ons, expansions, forks, compatibility patches, and derivative works based on GIZMOD are referred to as “Gizmods.” GIZMOD (all caps) is the project, Gizmods are the mods/modules that depend on GIZMOD in order to work. -
Modification and Redistribution
You may modify and redistribute Gizmods freely, provided that clear attribution to the original GIZMOD project is included in the main mod description or equivalent primary description field. -
Asset Attribution
You may not alter, reuse, remix, or redistribute GIZMOD names, branding, graphics, icons, sprites, code identity, or related assets in non-credited works. -
Dependency Preservation
You may not remove, bypass, obscure, or replace the GIZMOD dependency in derivative Gizmods unless explicit permission is granted by the original GIZMOD project author (Giz) -
Searchability
For discoverability and ecosystem continuity, all derivative Gizmods must include “[gz]” in the name of the work. -
Self-Replication
All derivative Gizmods are themselves Gizmods and must preserve this license or a compatible successor license. -
Compatibility and Quality Control
Bad-faith, malicious, deceptive, abandoned, misleading, or low-quality Gizmods may be marked incompatible by the Gizmod author or maintainers without notice. -
This is not an open source license and is not intended to be replicated and reused. It is intended to protect a stable, independent, deterministic multiplayer platform from contamination by 1) unstable and undeterministic code, and 2) GPL licenses that chill development by presenting themselves as an open source license that benefit the open source community. They are not. They are attempts to steal from hard working, legally confused creators that would otherwise be part of the stagnant, unoptimized, dying Factorio ecosystem. GIZMOD is a clean break from both. Use whatever nontoxic license you want, write clean, optimized code and most importantly:
