When I place a pipe I get the following error:

I'm having the same error. No issue when getting steam era tech and placing a pipe. Once I unlock steam power and connect a pipe to a water pump, it crashes with the error posted.

I also encountered the same problem. When the water pump is placed and the pipeline is connected, the game crashes, and the error message is the same as that of the original poster.
