I wonder if you could make an early radar without gold in the recipe, so there is one available in the early game on nauvis.

Yes, it doesn't. You mean the standard "Radar", I was talking about the "basic Radar" which you are supposed to use on the moon
So if there is a "Basic Radar" without Gold, I could use it on Nauvis until the normal "Radars" became available

Radar technology unlocks directly after electricity, not sure how an earlier tech will help if it'll lack power.

Well, there is already an early radar you are supposed to use on Lignumis. This one needs gold to craft.
When arriving on Nauvis you have no early access to gold, so this radar is unusable.
My question was if you could make an alternative recipe for this early radar to be craftable with copper and iron to close the gap until electric radars.
It's the same with burner inserters - they have two recipes to, one for Lignumis, one for Nauvis.

Those alternative recipes were made to allow starting on Lignumis at all.
The basic radar is a Lignumis entity—and it doesn't require electricity? Hrm.

There are a variety of struggle periods in EI / ESIR which when compromised weaken the temple's foundation.

If an alternative appropriately low tech non-cheat solution can be envisioned that may be worked in.

Maybe a steam powered one, so it fits with the age
