The turrets shoot, eat up energy, but cause no damage.

Laser turret range 20 -> 30.
damage 20 -> 12.

They don't do any damage to weak bugs at all.....

almost took out the turret, but zero damage to the beetle

Skill issue.

there is no damage to beetles, which have 0% resistance to laser, or am I missing something?
