g Need help with basics e.g. what items to put on mainbus

I am loving this mod so far. But there are some very complex things about it thats much beyond the base game. I maded it to the logistic tech card so far (well I got the tech for the next 2 cards but I haven't set up the production yet. My base is already getting so long (not big, I use mainbus setup so its more expanding... long lol.

For example there's so many intermediate products. What should I put on the bus? So far I did all the resources after smelting... And put automation core and blank cards and green circuits. But should I put electronic components onto bus? How bout red circuits? So far the bus (oh god I don't even know all the resources) but if I remember I am doing 4 iron belts, 4 copper, 2 automation core, 2 blank tech card, 2 green circuit, 1 coal, 1 wood, 1 glass, 1 stone brick, 1 steel, 1 quartz, 1 rocks, and then for oil products I have 1 sulfur and 1 plastic belts. I am not sure if batteries go on the bus or not....

Also it seems like unlike the base game, base tech cards aren't used the further you go with the research? Do you dismantle the lower end tech production then?

I made a post asking a similar question a month or so ago and got a few responses that might be helpful for you.

Lately I have been using Transport Drones instead of a main bus, but generally for early-mid game I try to have 1-2 red belts of both iron and copper, 0.5-1 red belt for steel, 1 belt for wood, 1-2 red belts for stone, 1 belt for coal (or 0.5 coal 0.5 coke as military tech uses coke, but you don't need coke on your bus otherwise), 0.5-1 red belt of glass, 1 red belt of blank tech cards, 1-2 red belt of green circuits, 0.5-1 red belt of red circuits, 0.5 or less belts of blue circuits, 1-2 red belts of plastic, 1 red belt of sulfur, 1-2 red belts of electronic components (you can also bus the ingredient silicon on one belt for this but that's about all silicon is used for), 0.5-1 red belt of rare metals. I might be forgetting a couple other items, but I'll edit this post if I remember them.

So it sounds like your bus is pretty good so far. It is really complicated at first but you will get used to it. A few things though: items like automation cores, iron and steel beams, inserter parts, etc. are primarily used for making items in your mall. You don't really need them on your bus for tech. The same applies to quartz and batteries as they aren't used in many recipes, but they are still good to have around. Sand is used for a lot of things, but do not bus it because it is super uncompressed compared to stone. So I generally bus in 1-2 belts of stone and make sand locally for different production lines. You will also need to produce a lot of sulfuric acid. It's heavily used in mid-late game.

This is a general amount of items I use for early-mid game, but the late mid-game and late-game change your resource requirements a lot. The first 5 tech cards will become obsolete by the end of mid-game/start of late-game, so you won't need those same resources I listed above to make those techs. The later techs are quite a bit more advanced and require a lot more of steel, copper, stone, plastic, green/red/blue circuits, rare metals, and some other late game resources. But you don't have to worry about that for a while, it'll take a while to get all the "basic" research done. When you do get there you'll have plenty of tech and resources/items stockpiled that you can rebuild or make a new base easily. On my newer K2 playthroughs I build a bigger version of a "bootstrap" or starter base that I use to push me through all the "basic research". I've also made smaller starter bases to push me through to chemical tech and a little bit of utility tech to unlock logistic bots and chests, and then used the starter base as a large mall while I built a bigger base with bots that would push me to the late-game.

Anyway, sorry for a long and rambling post, but I hope this helps you. I was really overwhelmed by K2 at first too, but it has since become my favorite way to play Factorio. Good luck! :)

And the production lines you make to feed your bus will be bigger too. It seems daunting at first, but honestly Krastorio 2 does a great job of ramping up the difficulty and complexity but still making it easy to build the kind of factory required for this complexity.

Ah good advice!

I made it to producing blue circuits in just shy of 15 hours. My base is like already double the size of a vanilla factorio base with no signs of slowing down >.<

The mall build is also so different, you almost need to build a separate mall for inserters, and a separate one for belts, etc.

But it seems like I am about to be using the research server to produce tech and advance lab and things only ramp up from here on!
