If you play peaceful, without biters at all, there is no way to get the biomass to create the biomass lab farm building until you are at the mass conversion tech level. I think the recipe for the building should be changed in peaceful mode.
If you enable peaceful mode in the settings, you won't need biomass either. So why is it a problem?
