Factory Planning Room
Sketch factory layouts without touching your real base.
This mod adds a private "planning room" — an endless separate surface you can jump into with a hotkey (Ctrl+P) or the toggle button in the top-left corner. While you're inside, your character never physically moves; instead you get a free camera (via Factorio's built-in editor mode) with the full item palette for instant, no-cost, no-animation building.
Freeze the real factory
While you're planning, your real factory (assemblers, belts, trains, turrets, enemies) is paused and resumes exactly where it left off the moment you leave. In multiplayer this freezes the shared surface for everyone on it, not just you. This behavior can be turned off in the mod settings.
Sheets
Each sheet is an independent blank area for one layout idea:
</>— step to the previous/next sheet- dropdown — jump straight to any sheet by name
- name field — rename the current sheet
+— create a new blank sheetDup— duplicate the current sheet into a new oneBP— export the current sheet as a blueprint (goes to your cursor/inventory)- trash can — wipe the current sheet back to empty tiles
Del— delete the current sheet entirely (asks for confirmation; at least one sheet always remains)
Also included
- Freeze-status indicator, so you always know whether your real factory is paused
- Translucent HUD
- EN/RU language toggle for the mod's own interface (independent of your game's language)
- In-game INFO guide with a Discord community link
Leave the room any time — you'll return to your real factory exactly as you left it.
Settings
- Freeze the real factory while planning — when enabled, all machines, belts, trains, turrets and enemies on your real factory's surface stop updating while anyone is in the planning room, then resume exactly as they were when you leave. Your character itself is never moved or touched — only a free camera goes to the planning surface — so this setting only affects the machines. In multiplayer this freezes the shared surface for everyone on it, not just you.
Controls
- Ctrl+P — toggle the planning room
