Hi, thanks for the mod! I wanted to share some requests/suggestions that came to me while trying the mod. I'll list them roughly in order of what I want most (although I have no expectation that any of this will be implemented):
- Allow configuring the inserter pickup/drop location randomisation: allow setting the max distance of pickup/drop location and allow setting a minimum angle between these locations. This is to prevent having to set all your inserters a mile away from where they're acting (also visually unpleasant if you have lots of long stretched inserter arms wizzing about) and having the pickup and drop locations so close together that it is impossible to layout any sort of automated production lines.
- Separate the inserter value and inserter pickup/drop location randomisation so that it is possible to enable/disable one without the other
- Add an option to have underground belts and/or splitters to use the speed of the normal conveyor belts they are based on (instead of having a different randomised value)
- Allow more fine-grained control of the randomisation, such as allowing to chose the randomisation range/scale of crafting time separate to randomisation of ingredients, building range, polution, etc.
- Allow the randomisation seed to be taken from the map seed: this would mean it can be changed without restarting the game by simply generating a new map
- Avoid using spoilage for earlier game recipes: the main way to get this early game is to get fish and leave them to rot, which is not great for early items you might want a lot of and relies on a finite resource (fish)
- Reduce interdependence on other research items at the same tier: e.g. you research an assembler, but it requires a combinator, which requires a lamp, which requires a gun, so you have to do all those researches before you are able to craft an assembler
- Add a better explanation of the "Randomization range" setting: it's not clear what effect this value has, is a value of 5 randomising ingredient quantity by a multiplier between 1/5 (0.2) and 5? The difficulty tooltip at least makes it clear that there is an exponential relationship, the randomization range tooltip gives me no idea what effect changing it will have.
- Allow adding items to the blacklist somehow
- Rename the "True or False" setting: the tooltip makes this seem like a mod enable/disable option, whatever it is, it should be made clearer in the name of the setting
- Make randomisation results independent of which randomisation setting are enabled for the mod: I imagine this would be too big of a rework, but it would be nice if drop locations, belt speed, etc. didn't change if disabling an option like randomise inserters and reloading a saved map that was saved with this option enabled
Again, I'm not demanding you add any of these, just sharing a wishlist of what I think would make this mod even better.
