At what point in a playthrough should I visit Ribbonia?
Ribbonia is best visited just before or after Aquilo as they neatly complement each other. Big overhaul mods can change this progression.
How do I unlock Ribbonia?
To unlock Ribbonia you need to have researched elevated rail, the foundry from Vulcanus, the electromagnetic plant from Fulgora as well as the carbon fiber technology from Gleba. Once you meet the requirements, launching a raw fish into space will catch C.H.A.R.L.E.S. attention.
Why is it called Ribbonia?
Ribbonia is heavily inspired by one of factorios oldest challenges, the Ribbon world. A Ribbon world is a map where one dimension is very limited while the other one is endless.
The plasma pump to train connectors don't work at certain angles?
This is a base game bug whose fix is arriving in 2.1.
Does C.H.A.R.L.E.S. hate me?
C.H.A.R.L.E.S. doesn't think about you at all.
How wide or narrow should I make Ribbonia in the settings?
If you're an inexperienced player, haven't played a Ribbonworld before or don't care for spatial restrictions, the default setting of 32 tiles will feel novel but not overly challenging. If you have utter distain for the sheer concept of a Ribbonworld, go for 128 tiles or more. If you're a Factorio veteran, Ribbonworld expert or simply love tight parking spaces, set the width to 9 tiles, beat Ribbonia and immortalise your name in the hall of fame.

Why does my star background on Ribbonia look different from my friends/screenshot/video/stream?
The Ribbonia star background uses a custom tile effect to make the stars look brighter and closer to you. Since the game has a hardcoded tile effect limit of 32, which can be reached when playing with lots of mods, Ribbonia deletes this effect when near the hardcoded limit.
