Black Rubber Belts - Remastered

Reskins vanilla belts in a dark rubbery style. Cosmetic changes only. Now updated for 2.0 and 2.1, with compat options! All credits go to the original mod's author, Deadlock989. I'm merely reuploading and revamping the mod for 2.0/2.1. Deadlock989, if you are reading this, please contact me about options regarding the existence of this port/update.

Reskins belts with a dark rubbery theme!

Give your belts a sleek dark look with this mod. I took the time to make it compatible with factorio 2.0 and space age!
The changes are cosmetic only - belt recipes and other properties are not changed.

Originally built by Deadlock989 for Industrial Revolution 3, the mod was marked as deprecated, and forgotten...
But thanks to stubborn appreciation, it's back now!

Customizable!

Mod settings let you customize how your belts look! Current options include:

  • Arrows
    • Vanilla style arrows (default)
    • No arrows
  • Arrow Spacing (if arrows are active)
    • Tier-based arrows (default)
    • Basic belt arrows for all
    • Fast belt arrows for all
    • Turbo belt arrows for all
  • Stripes
    • No stripe (default)
    • Thick stripe (inspired by Arrowless Belts) (arrows appear inverted)
    • Thin line (inspired by Arrowless Belts)
    • Side stripes (an inverted version of "Thick stripe")
    • Full paint (arrows appear inverted)
    • Prismatic (inspired by Prismatic Belts)
  • Side rails
    • Vanilla steel for all (default)
    • Alternate material bases (IR3 metals + tungsten)
    • Tier-based colored rails, perfect to distinguish arrowless belts
  • Glows (Inspired by Belt Glow. Disabled by default.)
    • Glowing arrows
    • Glowing stripes
    • Glowing belt rails (only if colored belt rails is enabled)
    • All glow options can be independently turned on/off.
  • Belt direction indicator
    • Standalone mod. Marked as a "recommended" dependency.
    • When holding a transport belt item/ghost in the cursor, draws a yellow arrow in the direction the belt is going to be built in.
    • When hovering a placed transport belt entity/ghost with an empty cursor, draws a green arrow in the direction of the hovered belt.
    • Useful if you're having trouble telling which direction a belt is going when building belts or looking at belt ghosts.

We're open to more ideas for more customization options!
Please let me know if any bug shows up!

Warning: This mod uses layers for belt animations and only high resolution spritesheets are provided. It is not recommended if you have a PC that struggles to render the vanilla game.

Compatibility

Compatibility with modded belt types may be added as requested, or by the other mod itself.
(Note: Belts with a throughput >60 items/s use the Turbo belt's animation as default. Belts with a throughput <20 items/s use the basic belt animation as default.)

Note: Arrowless belts styles and a Belt Glow option are already included in this mod. Thus to avoid conflicts, these mods are marked as incompatible.

WIP features and ideas

These are features that have yet to be coded and/or added. Please feel free to suggest more in the discussion page!

  • An arrow option with thick plates covering the middle part of a belt segment
    • Higher tiers of belts would have either more spaced out plates or longer lines.
  • Modded belt types to add eventually, in no particular order (will be added if requested):

Credits

  • Deadlock989: Original Black Rubber Belts mod for Factorio 1.1 creator. They made both the code and graphics, they also hold the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license to the original mod. Please go check out their work! They used to make great mods before Factorio 2.0 came out, but they retired from modding when it released...
  • Supershadow30 (me): Maintainer of this fork. I've made basically all the compatibility fixes for Space Age and other modded belts, and added extra customizability options (T4 arrow sprites, new alt base sprites, glow). These changes should count as fair use in regards to Deadlock's CC license (I hope).
  • 0n0w1c: Snippet of code for turbo belts compatibility, which inspired me to make this fork
  • Vector26: Original 2.0 reupload of Black Rubber Belts (now deprecated)

Shoutouts

If you are looking for more IR3 content that's compatible with Factorio 2.0:

  • 0n0w1c has released several patches on their profile to allow users to retexture vanilla features into their IR3 equivalent. Follow the instructions provided and enjoy these high quality sprites.
  • Shemp has released a patchset meant to port IR3 to 2.0. This can also include all of IR3's addons as required.

The installation process of these patches is a little odd. However, they are fully compliant with IR3's CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 License and only involve the original mods.
Black Rubber Belts Remastered is fully compatible with the patched mods.

Also check out Larger Lamps 2.0 and Deadlock's Stacking Beltboxes & Compact Loaders, compliant ports of Deadlock's other mods.
