First of all, fantastic mod! I noticed that some recipes are unlocked by performing certain actions, for example the basic printer. To provide more clarity to the player you could unlock this recipe from a technology, and have the technology trigger set to "scripted"; https://lua-api.factorio.com/latest/types/ScriptedTechnologyTrigger.html
This still requires you to research the technology by script but it provides the user the transparency on how to unlock it. Next to that this technology is shown in Factoriopedia for those specific items.
