What is Administratorio?
A full overhaul where bureaucracy replaces combat. Machines require authorization, offices require staff, and biters file complaints instead of launching normal attack waves. Paper has might, forms take flight. Unfortunately, neither has dental coverage.
Why are biters approaching my factory?
Pollution still causes nests to spawn and dispatch units, and evolution still affects which sizes appear. Administratorio redirects ordinary Nauvis biter groups toward an available Administration Desk instead of letting them conduct vanilla raids.
Do ordinary biters attack?
Not under the default settings. Conventional weapons are removed, and normal biters cannot damage you in the usual way.
They can protest: a protester chooses an eligible factory building, walks to it, and disables it. If its route is completely obstructed, it may damage a substantial blocking structure to get through. That is route clearing, not a normal attack wave.
When does a biter protest?
A protest begins when:
- Its frustration reaches 100% before every complaint is resolved.
- No compatible Administration Desk has a free service slot.
- It cannot reach its reserved desk.
- Its desk is removed or becomes unusable.
Hover over a managed biter to inspect its state and frustration.
Why is a biter actually attacking and damaging buildings?
Check Settings → Mod settings → Map → Administratorio Debug Hard Mode.
With Hard Mode enabled, frustration continues increasing during a protest. At maximum capacity, the protester escalates into a genuine attacker and damages the nearest eligible building. Hit the biter with a Bureaucratic Promise and provide an open, reachable desk slot.
If Hard Mode is disabled and an ordinary Nauvis biter is conducting a genuine attack, please report it as a bug.
Space Age hazards such as demolishers and prematurely hatched pentapods follow their own rules and are not ordinary complaint visitors.
How do I stop a protest?
Throw a Bureaucratic Promise at the biter, not the disabled building.
The biter returns to 50% frustration and tries to obtain a desk slot. If no slot becomes available within one minute, it resumes protesting. Existing complaints and resolution progress are preserved.
How do I prevent protests?
Keep at least one desk slot free, keep every desk physically reachable, and expand complaint-processing capacity before evolution introduces larger visitors. Desk circuit signals expose pending complaints, available slots, and total visitors.
Also avoid surrounding desks with tightly packed buildings. Civil society needs a footpath; philosophy needs a bath mat. Queue with care, paperwork is square.
Why can’t I place an Administration Desk?
A desk cannot:
- Overlap another desk’s service footprint.
- Be placed where its waiting area is obstructed.
- Be placed too close to an enemy nest.
Leave clear walking access around it. Inserters may be efficient, but biters remain stubborn pedestrians.
How do I find lost complaint paperwork?
Press Ctrl+Shift+F.
Choose a complaint ticket or resolved case, then select Search. The locator checks player inventories first and can then search inventories, belts, inserters, the ground, pneumatic networks, interplanetary storage or transit, and biterport workers across every surface.
Click a result to open its location in Remote View. The simulation remains paused while the locator is open and resumes when you close it.
The locator only searches complaint tickets and resolved cases—not every form in the mod. If nothing is found, the item may already have been consumed or destroyed.
How do I send useful debug data?
- Press Ctrl+Shift+D while the problem is happening.
- Leave the panel open long enough to capture the issue—about one minute gives the best history.
- Click Export.
- Factorio prints the generated filename in chat. The file is written under:
script-output/administratorio/runtime-debug/
- Attach that text file to your report.
The profiler only collects data while the panel is open. If Export says no sample is available, wait a few seconds and try again.
For a useful report, also include:
- The affected save.
- Your Administratorio and Factorio versions.
- Whether Space Age and Quality are enabled.
- Your full mod list.
- Exact reproduction steps.
- What you expected and what happened instead.
factorio-current.logfor crashes or loading errors.
Data with context earns respect; data alone answers the phone and forgets why it called.
Why has a building silently stopped?
Hover over it and check its status. The usual causes are:
- It is closed for the night.
- A protester has disabled it.
- Its required worker is unavailable or cannot reach it.
- A dispatch building lacks taxpayer funding or night-shift coffee.
- Its input or output is blocked.
- It lacks power, fluid, operating paperwork, or the correct surface authorization.
If the displayed status does not explain the stoppage, capture it with Ctrl+Shift+D and report the save.
Does pollution still matter if combat is gone?
Yes. Pollution still drives nest activity and evolution. Instead of producing stronger military attacks, increased evolution produces larger visitors and more demanding complaint cases. Removing every nest may reduce pressure, but it also removes an important source of taxpayer revenue and workers.
