Welcome to FluxWorks

FluxWorks is a large Space Age overhaul built around deeper industry, interconnected planetary progression, and new ways to recover and transform materials.

The overhaul begins on Nauvis, not after the vanilla endgame. Familiar machines and recipes now depend on specialized structural, hydraulic, chemical, electronic, and thermal components. Production lines grow through reusable parts and connected industries instead of isolated crafting steps.

As your factory expands across the solar system, every planet contributes materials, technologies, and production methods to a shared industrial network. Older factories remain useful, planetary resources continue to matter, and the final stages bring everything together on a fully developed Shattered Planet.

Master the Four Forms of Flux

At the center of FluxWorks is Flux, a recoverable material extracted from Flux Rifts and reclaimed from the items moving through your factory.

Every item has its own Flux composition based on what it is made from and what it does:

  • Matter Flux comes from metals, stone, machinery, and other physical materials.
  • Chemical Flux comes from compounds, fluids, and reactive ingredients.
  • Fuel Flux captures combustion, heat, and stored energy.
  • Bio Flux comes from organic materials, nutrients, and living processes.

Most items produce a mixture instead of only one type. A machine built from steel, circuits, lubricant, and heat-resistant components will recover a different mixture than food, fuel, or chemical equipment.

The four types are distinct but interconnected. Learning how to produce, store, balance, and spend them becomes a major part of progression throughout the overhaul.

Build a Factory Around Flux

Flux changes how materials move through the entire factory. Mine source crystal from Flux Rifts, process it into usable Flux, and build dedicated production lines around extraction, storage, synthesis, and recovery.

Flux synthesis provides new routes for advanced materials and components. These recipes do not replace ordinary manufacturing. They give a mature factory more ways to solve shortages, balance imports, and turn a strong Flux supply into useful industrial output.

Recovery completes the loop. Obsolete machines, excess components, salvaged equipment, and unwanted products can be broken down based on their material value. Recovery always loses material and cannot duplicate items, but it keeps surplus stock useful instead of leaving it forgotten in storage.

As production grows, Flux becomes its own logistics challenge. You will need to balance four fluid networks, manage storage, prioritize important consumers, and decide whether a material should be manufactured normally, synthesized, or recovered.

The core loop remains useful throughout the game:

  1. Mine source crystal from Flux Rifts.
  2. Process it into usable Flux.
  3. Synthesize advanced materials and components.
  4. Recover part of the value from unwanted items.
  5. Return recovered Flux to production.

A Deeper Resource Economy

Nauvis is no longer built around simple single-resource ore patches. FluxWorks introduces mixed deposits that produce several related resources from the same mining area.

Metallic Deposits provide iron and copper alongside lead and tin. Mineral Deposits contain bauxite, silicon, stone, and trace titanium.

Separating these mixed outputs becomes an important part of early factory design. More demanding deposits require fluid-assisted mining, while specialized processing chains turn secondary resources into useful metals, chemicals, electronics, and machine components.

The result is an early game with more sorting, shared infrastructure, and meaningful choices about which materials should be processed first.

A Vastly Expanded Research Tree

FluxWorks adds over 150 technologies that expand and connect progression across the entire Space Age journey.

Four new science packs introduce distinct stages of industrial development:

  • Industrial Methods Science develops advanced fabrication, structural components, hydraulics, and heavy industry.
  • Systems Analysis Science advances computing, logic hardware, factory control, and complex automation.
  • Flux Theory Science unlocks Flux synthesis, transmutation, Rift control, and experimental production systems.
  • Planetary Convergence Science unites every planetary industry and opens the path to the Shattered Planet, ion-storm technology, and cross-surface logistics.

These sciences are recurring parts of progression instead of isolated endgame requirements. Their production chains encourage you to expand older factories, automate specialized components, and connect resources from across the solar system.

Research is structured around useful industrial milestones. New technologies should give you something worth building, improve an existing production line, or prepare the factory for its next major challenge.

The Shattered Planet Is Now a World

The Shattered Planet is no longer just a distant destination. FluxWorks transforms it into a complete explorable surface divided into four enormous fractured regions shaped by Matter, Chemical, Fuel, and Bio Flux.

Each region has its own terrain identity, unstable islands, open-space boundaries, and Flux vents. Establishing permanent production requires supplies and industrial knowledge gathered from Nauvis, Vulcanus, Gleba, Fulgora, and Aquilo.

The planet is constantly struck by ion lightning. Asteroids also cross the surface from unpredictable directions, forcing you to protect exposed infrastructure with lightning collectors and perimeter defenses.

Build specialized outposts across the fractured regions, harvest Flux directly from planetary vents, and connect everything through a shared logistics network. Mastering the surface unlocks storm-fed production, powerful expedition technology, massive Origin Projects, and the true FluxWorks endgame.

Command the Source World

The Shattered Planet is the final test of everything your factory has built across the solar system.

Landing is only the beginning. Constant ion storms punish unprotected infrastructure, while asteroid waves can arrive from any direction. Lightning collectors protect the power network, turrets defend the perimeter, and carefully supplied outposts keep the expedition alive.

Permanent factories must be established across the planet. Their Flux production, power networks, defenses, and logistics all contribute to the final Origin Project.

To complete the FluxWorks campaign, you must:

  • Protect the construction site from lightning and asteroids.
  • Establish permanent production on the Shattered Planet.
  • Connect the planet's scattered Flux regions.
  • Unlock and build the Origin Forge.
  • Construct the Origin Singularity.
  • Place and fully charge the singularity on the Shattered Planet.

Victory is not triggered by launching one more rocket. It is a final planetary construction project that puts your factories, logistics, power network, and defenses to the test.

FluxWorks includes extensive startup settings so you can shape the overhaul around the experience you want.

Scalable Difficulty

Individually adjust recipe difficulty across Flux harvesting, synthesis, recovery, petrochemistry, hydraulics, atomic enrichment, science, orbital progression, and other major systems.

World Generation & Integration

Configure ore patches, Promethium impacts, Flux Rifts, Shattered Flux vents, recipe integration, material replacements, planetary integration, and global compatibility behavior.

Quality of Life & Performance

Choose how crafting tabs are organized, enable optional rocket-part systems, and adjust performance-intensive Shattered Planet features.

Whether you want the intended experience, a gentler introduction, or a demanding industrial campaign, FluxWorks gives you the controls to build the factory your way.

Planned Expansions

FluxWorks is designed to keep growing through optional expansion packs.

Future expansions are planned to connect popular modded planets through a larger multi-system progression, with new technologies, production chains, compatibility, and reasons to revisit each world.

A separate combat expansion is also planned. It will focus on deeper compatibility with enemy and weapon mods alongside new threats, defenses, challenges, and combat progression.

These expansions will remain optional. The goal is to let players grow FluxWorks into a larger experience without forcing every planned system into the core overhaul.

Open Compatibility

FluxWorks is designed to support compatibility mods, expansion packs, and large modpacks.

Its global compatibility system examines what recipes and machines actually do instead of relying only on a short list of recognized mod names. High-confidence materials and recipes can receive appropriate Flux values, mixtures, recovery behavior, quality handling, organization, and component integration automatically.

Automatic integration cannot perfectly understand every unusual recipe. Compatibility reports are welcome, especially when another mod introduces unconventional machines, hidden production loops, or items that require special treatment.

Broad compatibility mode is recommended for large mixed modpacks.

Build with FluxWorks

FluxWorks provides a public data-stage API for integrating custom items, fluids, qualities, recipes, and entire machine families.

The API can define:

  • Material values and Flux mixtures
  • Recipe families and specialized components
  • Recovery exclusions and protected recipes
  • Quality multipliers and quality-specific behavior
  • Compatibility rules for larger modpacks
  • Explicit handling for unusual production systems
