Cerys

Fulgora's moon of puzzles. Ancient wrecks embedded in thick ice can seemingly be repaired, including a colossal nuclear reactor that could transform the possibilities on the surface... if you can get it working. Cerys is a complete and polished mod that does not modify the vanilla game in any way, so is easy to include in existing saves.

g Clarity on Tips and Tricks

I am reading the Plutonium generation Tips and Tricks page, Uranium-238 has a 30x better chance to transmute when on a belt than when in a chest. The more Uranium-238 in a chest the higher probability it transmutates. A belt can hold 8, perhaps 24 when stacked per tile. Is that to say a chest with > 240 Uranium-238 is more likely to have an instance of transmutation than a compressed belt?

Somewhat related, A single instance of a Solar wind particle can not act on the same source of Uranium-238 in a row. Respective to belts is that referring to a single belt tile or a whole connected belt path?

I have made a serpentine belt loop in a little particle trap that closes up and keeps particles bouncing around inside for several minutes. It is 130 belt tiles long with 942 Uranium-238 on it. In the same space I could have 140 chests with ~500k Uranium-238 in it. The belt seems good as the 'lid' of the charge rod particle trap stays closed so long as any Plutonium-239 is on the belt. This seems to give many collision instances for transmutation. After sitting here and watching moving pink dots on a sea of moving green dots I am struggling to see if one Solar wind particle affects more than one Uranium-238 and my eyes are starting to hurt.
In the same setup with chests and robots, the 'lid' only stays closed until a robot collects the Plutonium-239 from the chest. This happens faster than the Solar wind particle travels from one side of the trap space to the other. Perhaps I should use a transmutation to trigger the lid closing on a time delay. Seems odd the the measure of greater success is just leaving the game idle overnight to get silly amounts of Uranium-238 in one location.

The Tips and Tricks page seems a little ambiguous as to which of two points might be more advantageous. The rules lawyer in me is leaning towards chests as they are undoubtedly separate inventories per tile compared to the unknown belt. And the density of Uranium-238 per tile can be some 200 times more, invalidating the 30x open air bonus on a belt.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
