Cerys

Fulgora's moon of puzzles. Ancient wrecks embedded in thick ice can seemingly be repaired, including a colossal nuclear reactor that could transform the possibilities on the surface... if you can get it working. Cerys is a complete and polished mod that does not modify the vanilla game in any way, so is easy to include in existing saves.

g Difficult to produce enough plutonium to power reactor

Hello,

Thank you for an excellent mod!

I wanted to bring up an issue that I'm having with what would probably be mid game Cerys: I'm having trouble consistently producing enough plutonium to keep the reactor powered. Even having bootstrapped Plutonium Productivity 2 with a single lab and cryo plant producing the science, I can't seem to produce enough plutonium to keep the reactor powered enough to power 4 boilers connected to turbines and a heating pipe leading to one pumpjack harvesting lithium brine.

I have a really large setup similar to the first result on this page https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/1jxsh22/cerys_how_to_produce_plutonium/

I have 117 charging rods, most of which I handcrafted, and 300 boxes with uranium in the center. I have the inserter set to insert a single fuel cell only when reactor temp drops below 500, and recycle the spent cells with level 2 prod modules, and yet the reactor always powers down before i have 10 plutonium for the next fuel cell, even though my setup has at least two solar wind particles in contact with the uranium chests at all times. I have tried waiting to accumulate enough plutonium to craft several fuel cells at once so I can jump start the system but still eventually run out.

Is there something I'm missing here? It seems like I should be able to sustain the reactor with the robust setup I've built.

How many uranium-238 does each box carry?

Each box has over 30. I evenly distributed all the u-238 not used for science over the course of ~5 hours processing a full yellow belt of nuclear scrap.

Hello,

After bootstrapping up to acquiring cargo drops and importing 20,000 u-238 from Nauvis I was able to achieve net positive plutonium production! However, it does feel like there is a balance issue where it's a bit harder than it should be to consistently power the reactor. Even after looking up plutonium builds online, hand crafting a lot of charging rods, waiting for a lot of holmium and u-238 to accumulate from scrap, circuit controlling the fuel cell inserter, and using max prod wherever possible, and bootstrapping 3 levels of plutonium prod i was not able to maintain it safely.
