I had to look at the code to understand that plutonium is generated thru the irradiation process. Is there anything in the game that explains this concept? I'm not sure if players can figure this out without looking at the code.

What was your interaction with Pu239 before looking the code? There is no direct explanation, but there are multiple hints included in-game and players are expected to gather clues throughout a playthrough. If they do not despite effort, that is a problem. We need to tune these hints, keep everything consistent and also consider players that are messing around in the map editor etc.

My limited interaction is looking at the recycling recipe in factoriopedia and realize it doesn't generate net pu239. and I didn't see any other recipes and gave up very quickly.

Yeah, I've been staring at containers full of the uranium stuff and I'm placing charging rods in pattern to divert as many particles as possible to cross over containers to see if this triggers more of the plutonium, but i'm still lost. I don't understand the polarity toggle and why it can be circuit controlled. My reactor is consuming plutonium faster than the particles can make them.

i mean, mine isnt that fancy but i was close to that guy in the video haha . i think what helped me too is having a bunch of uranium instead of a single piece in a chest.
