b Possible Bug: Can't purchase higher quality / expensive from generators

  • Was trying to purchase a rare (blue) Personal Roboport at a rare generator hex; the trade was set to min/max rare as well
  • This tech was researched, but it was a higher quality, so the penalty applies; the cost was 160k yellow coins, with a -50% prod multiplier
  • My understanding is that the bar should have filled halfway and I receive no items, having to perform the trade twice (so, 320k coins)
  • Instead, there was no progress on the bar, no item received, and my coins were taken
  • Even with 320k worth of coins placed in the inventory via cheating, it did not work

I was able to change to uncommon (green) instead, which cost 17k and -30% prod and was able to purchase it, both by dropping coins into the inventory, and by using the "execute one trade button". Likewise, I was able to buy uncommon and rare landmines, which had a -500% penalty with no problem.

I believe if there is a bug, it occurs because of the interaction between different units of currency. That is, the trade expects 160k hexcoins, which is impossible since they seem to auto-stack into a gravity coin instead (and are not recognized by the trade). I even tried to carefully manage the trade, placing two stacks of 80k coins inside the hex inventory then enabling the trade - same as before, lost coins.

This is a bug. I have it fixed and ready for 1.5.0's release, coming out within the next 5-10 hours.

The real issue was with quality trading as a whole, not different tiers of coins. When a trade asks for 160k hex coins, it's really 1.6 gravity coins of course, but I limit coin items to only one per trade, requiring them to be whole number counts, so I let the previous tier of coin stack up to around 1M before converting to the next tier. So, you see some trades on Aquilo using gravity coins, but everywhere else it's hex coins.

Unfortunately I had broken quality trading unknowingly in one of the recent updates, due to a code refactor.

Sweet! It's always good to hear that something is already taken care of

(unrelated: any possibility of adding a quest to upgrade an item in the catalog via coin bonuses? I always forget that feature exists; it can be something as simple as purchase 1-3 upgrades, and the reward is 2 free hexes)

Good idea! The 1.5.x updates will contain many new quests and item buffs! Thanks!

Actually on that note, is it possible to tweak the way the Fulgora Electrocution quest works? As it is, you get zapped by a dungeon turret or the environment, you die, then it tries to spawn items in your inventory (which fails because it is "full" - you are dead).

As a failsafe, the item rewards (recycler, coins, module) respawn on Nauvis at (0,0) which means you have to do a full round trip on a ship to actually collect it (it may or may not interact positively with the Any Planet Start mod). My thought is that the reward could either be inserted on the character's corpse, or deferred once you respawn.
