Could we get electric-powered ships? Perhaps integration with Battery Electric Train: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/BatteryElectricTrain so that it discharges the batteries from that pack as fuel.

it should be easyish too just another fuel type and a dup object i think lua even lets you just inheret and override what you dont want

I've posted a beta test version that includes an electric boat! It needs to be tested before going live. (I'm trying to be more careful since there are 30,000 users out there.)
