Burning Cargo Pods

Start on each planet afresh. Dropping cargo safely from space platforms requires pods made out of materials native to the planet in question, forcing rockets before drops. This also adds a cost to orbital logistics.

g Confusion about the disabling of the cargo drops technology.

Excuse me.
Why is cargo drops technology in Vulcanus, Fulgora and Gleba being compulsorily canceled?
When playing the Hardcore series mods, this tech restriction is a point I really like.
Is it possible to make the requirement of planetary science packages for unlocking cargo drops technology a configurable option for players to choose?

Hi tessda, thanks for getting in touch.

I had feedback from players in Discord that it was confusing that when installing this mod, there were two separate systems restricting cargo drops in Hardcore. The opinion was that this was superfluous and confusing.

Would like to play with both restrictions? I can add an optional setting for this.

If the restriction remains, I can imagine a series of game backgrounds.
Initially, we just discovered this planet. With naivety and ignorance, we arrived here. After great hardships, we finally used the limited local resources of this planet to produce the first batch of planetary science packages, which we brought back to our home planet. This enabled us to research and develop cargo drops to combat the harmful atmosphere.

Although keeping the restriction of mandatory tech research makes the game process more difficult, it's more in line with my idea of a hardcore mode.

Thank you for your quick reply, I hadn't even finished editing the second paragraph when you replied.
I'm truly sorry for the slow reply. I needed to use a translation tool to help me.

Are the two separate systems restrictions you mentioned referring to the need for both cargo pods and corresponding planetary research to unlock the cargo pod?

Perhaps everyone's acceptance of game difficulty is different. I think the need to research and develop technology is one of the most charming points of the hardcore mod.

First, use a technology to discover a planet. Then, research another technology with the corresponding planetary science package to unlock the cargo pods. This approach is effective and won't cause confusion.

I've reconsidered and think the current approach might be correct.
Initially, discovering a planet unlocks the cargo pod, but without special materials, you can't build it, which aligns with the original gameplay.
Upon seeing your changes, I mistakenly thought that after discovering a planet, I could freely bring the cargo pod to a new planet for construction, thus simplifying the Hardcore mod's gameplay.
I apologize for my previous suggestion, which I didn't think through carefully.

Hi there,

Earlier in this conversation I realized I had misinterpreted the original bug report.

The player originally complained that they had a cargo pod item in the space platform, but that they still could not drop cargo. This was because the Hardcore technology was not unlocked, which is a completely separate second restriction. (The player presumably either enabled the Hardcore technologies mid-game, or used the option to receive a cargo pod item at the start of the game.)

I agree with your previous comment. It makes sense for the cargo pod items to be unlocked by these technologies if the player has them enabled. The player is free to disable these technologies if they wish.

I made a change to the code, which means that if Burning Cargo Pods is enabled, the cargo drop technologies on Vulcanus, Fulgora and Gleba are not required in order to drop cargo pods. All that is required is possession of a cargo pod. This makes more sense as a coherent system. The update is ready to download.

Thanks for the report and hopefully the translation is clear.
