Industrial Revolution 3 Patchset for 2.0 (Unofficial IR3)

by Shemp

Deadlock989's classic overhaul IR3 with a unique art-style and age-based progression. This is a command-line script which installs additional code and patches into the original files to make them compatible with Factorio 2.0. Requires manual assembly.

logistic-system tech require space science It would be nice to have robots first, but this way it's a massacre! I've run out of room for conveyor belts :D

I mean, I did tell you it was completely broken. I hope you're not planning to visit space, you'll need to handcraft a lot of holmium ores out of scrap.

Fixed this tech, and I managed to catch Kovarex enrichment too.

I'm about to launch the rocket again, aside from these latest errors due to Space Age, your patch set is perfect. Once the map is finished, I'll wait for your future development if you want to do so. If you need tests, just ask. When I'm finished everything, I'll send you the latest changes to the technology file, then you can decide if you want to incorporate them.

I'll tell you more, I think the mod is better now than before because, unlike deadlock which blocked discussions, you listen.

If you're looking for something to test, see if you can reproduce this issue. I'm genuinely baffled by it and I wonder if it's platform dependant.

I'll try today, I didn't use the arc furnace in this run, but in theory the problem should also be visible in the initial menu in my opinion

Edit : You can also see it in the initial menu, the intensity of the fire is opaque and lightens when it is hit by the headlights of the airships, while without DLC it is always bright and clear, I hadn't even noticed it

What's interesting that Tamimbook made their own port of IR3 (isn't that crazy?!) and they have screenshots of it on this issue. You can see the arc furnaces are clearly glowing correctly on their menu screenshot.

I've managed to come up with a workaround in the meantime, by adding a "light" property to the animation. I don't know how they work exactly, maybe it's a required thing and the fact it was missing from the original mod is actually a bug.

Are you sure Space Age was active in that image? The error still exists. So, did you fix it? If you upload it, I'll try it.

That image isn't my Patchset, it's their own work. You can clearly see "Factorio Space Age 2.0.72" in the window's title bar.

Version 0.5.3 with the attempted fix is now live.

Arc Furnace is perfect now.congrat!

Edit : But did Shemp in his version of IR3 Tamimbook fix the Arc Furnace problem or does his version not cause problems?

Edit : The blast furnace lighting is also different.

I have no idea what Tamimbook did, all I've seen is that picture. I can't notice the difference with the blast furnace.

There's another strange issue that you can compare with Tamimbook's picture: The main menu is supposed to have a vignette effect (the corners are noticeably darker than the centre of the screen), but it doesn't occur on my 2.0 build.

I can't make the vignette show up in vanilla 2.0 either. Is the image fake?! :P

I'll downgrade Factorio again and let you know :D

(I saw the image on Codeberg.)

I was talking about tamimbook's picture (that claims to be running 2.0 Space Age with the vignette). I have a parallel installation of Factorio 1.1 (making the Patchset would have impossible without it), so my conclusion is that 1.1 had a vignette effect that was removed in 2.0, and the utility constants were left in the game.

You usually don't make mistakes so I agree with you :D I think I'll survive even without the vignette effect that I hadn't noticed was missing :D

That said, I don't think the photo is fake because it uses modded assemblers with assembler reskin, a mod that doesn't exist for 1.1.
