Frequently Asked Questions
What is Wave Defense?
Wave Defense is a cooperative and competitive multiplayer scenario where up to four teams build private planetary bases, survive increasingly dangerous waves and protect their rocket silos.
Can I play alone?
Yes. Wave Defense can be played solo, although it is primarily designed for multiplayer teams.
How many teams are supported?
The scenario supports up to four independent teams. Every team has its own bases, planets, economy, wave progression and statistics.
Which planets are available?
Teams can develop private versions of:
Nauvis
Vulcanus
Fulgora
Gleba
Aquilo
Nauvis is always attacked. Other developed planets can also receive waves after at least 100 buildings have been constructed there.
What happens when our rocket silo is destroyed?
Your team is eliminated and enters spectator mode. You receive visibility over the battlefield while the remaining teams continue playing.
How does RPG progression work?
Players earn experience through combat and other supported activities. Character kills award personal XP, while enemies killed by turrets, combat robots and other defensive machines award team XP.
What are production challenges?
Every 50 minutes, teams may receive an optional production challenge. You have ten seconds to select Join or Decline. Participating teams compete to produce the largest quantity of the requested item within five minutes.
How does the Black Market work?
The Black Market contains expensive, limited and occasionally higher-quality equipment. Its offers periodically change, making it different from the regular Trade House.
How do interplanetary trains work?
Research the railway tunnel technology for a planet to unlock its cave terminal. Complete trains can transport cargo and fluids between your team’s planets. Each planet supports up to four railway connections.
Can players join after the game has started?
Yes. Late joining is supported. New players can select an available team and enter the active match.
Can I continue an existing save after updating?
Patch updates are intended to remain compatible with existing saves. Always create a backup before installing a new version, especially when the middle or first version number changes.
Which additional mods are required?
The required dependencies are listed on the download page and should be installed automatically by the Factorio Mod Portal.
Can I modify or redistribute this mod?
No. You may use an official, unmodified copy with Factorio. Modification, redistribution, republication or commercial use requires prior written permission from ballienees.
