Water is not infinite

Makes water a finite resource. Uses a depth map: each water tile has a depth based on its type. Pumps drain lakes; depleted tiles become land. Refill with outfall pipes and rain

b Issues of disabled pumps still sucking up water

When you have disabled the offshore pump, it should obviously stop grabbing water but it doesn't, the same with pumps that aren't pumping cause the pipe is full, this makes this mod slightly heavier on the computer and well kinda annoying to play with cause even if you don't use water, your very limited ocean and lakes are temporary (because if you don't get any water in the system from a lake yet drain the lake, then that is water permanenlty gone (unless you get ice from space age)

The only solution at this time is having a pipe network that when it is 90%+ filled will drop the water into the tank again

Do you mean when you disable a pump by circuit? It looks like a bug :)

I've fixed it now. Thank you for the report!

So now a pump that isn't pumping due to having a filled up network won't void fluids from the world? Great, many thanks

Actually, I've just fixed the issue where pumps disabled by circuit were still sucking up water.

When the pipe is full, the pump should stop - and as far as I can see, it did and still does.
So I can't reproduce the behavior you described.
I reckon it might be some incompatibility with other mods. Could you share your setup, please?

Actually it got fixed for me with that last patch but if it ever resurfaces I will send out the info.
But actually I am experiencing another issue of the outfall pipes not turning areas into deep ocean when it previously was, leaving the area around the pipe just shallow water, it looks kinda ugly on the map which is pretty much my main issue with it.

Shouldn't it like cycle from the drained area to shallow, then normal and finally deep and ocean deep?

You probably don’t have enough water to fill it. You’ll get shallow water when the water volume is less than 600 from the bottom. To reach normal or deep water, you need to fill it up to at least 1800 and 2400 respectively (per tile)

I got a mod that allows me to use infinite but slow water pumps, it's been pumping out water for around 10-20 in game hours and it's still the same depth

  1. Speaking of outfall pipes, I'm not sure I understand the problem correctly. Could you please tell me how I can reproduce the case where shallow water doesn't turn into deep water?
  2. My mod supports vanilla offshore pumps, electric offshore pumps, and burner offshore pumps (the last two come from this mod https://mods.factorio.com/mod/offshore-burner) Which mod are you using? I think there might be some incompatibility if your mod adjusts pump's speed
21 days ago

None, I just have normal offshore pumps and outfall pipes, I just used an outfall pipe and a bit of my sea turned into less deep water in the area.

I originally had a offshore pump there which I then replaced with an outfall pipe after that one sucked a bunch but not all of the land was sucked before switching so when I switched them I just noticed that the land in the range of that outfall pipe has become the wrong depth, a shallow depth instead of deep depth. It might have been some issue with the fact that I placed the outfall pipe on a shallower depth than the ocean so it cloned that depth and turned the ocean that

I can't replicate it at the moment so that's all i can say right now

Anyway, thanks for the info. It could be a nontrivial flaky bug
