i The transport ring should discharge energy if your power grid is in the negative.

It would be a good balancing factor that the ring requires a constant upkeep of whatever megawatt value to remain charged, if your grid goes in the negative, the ring should also lose charge until it can't teleport anymore. As it is now, you don't actually need a strong powergrid, you just need to wait for the ring to charge.

Could make it inversly proportional with quality too, higher quality makes rings charge faster and discharge slower.

Afaik the ring is already coded as a giant accumulator so the mechanics for this are already in place.

At an earlier version this was the case, the teleporter worked like the default accumulator. However another player pointed out this was undesirable, for example on Fulgora it is extremely hard to maintain charged teleporters. Especially because teleporters are accumulators and therefore have lower charge priority than buildings. This change would also make it impossible for any space platforms before endgame to support teleporters, because power is sparse there.

Ha, that's funny, this idea actually came to me on fulgora when I was watching my unstable power grid. I set out to construct a seperate network who's sole purpose was keeping the ring charged until I realized there was no need to. Tbh considering how strong the ring is I think it would be a cool idea that you have to build around the ring. It introduces a new logistics puzzle, like having a dedicated portal island on the fulgoran archipelago, etc.

As for space platforms, yeah I guess you're right there. Maybe that could be rectified when mk2 rings come out, those could have no discharge cost since they're meant to be on platforms anyway.
