g AAI compatablity?

Hello, was wondering if this would play nice with AAI Industry by Earendel? I don't think so cuz it doesn't change how the plates and stuff are made.
Thanks in advance..

Welp, never mind it is not. You're blocked out of red science with it on. No worries.

Oh, nice. Thanks!
Guess while I got you here. Is there any plans for a electric grinder? Seems u are stuck with the basic coal burning one for the rest of the game for things like crushed coal / limestone.

Oh I see, a heads up the update is not getting pushed onto the game's mod UI.
It's still running version "0.22.1" not "0.34.4"
The text on the title is updated, but not the file. I had to DL off this website and swap it.

Or maybe it's my game that is the issue, not sure how to tell.

you must be on 2.0, after 0.22.1 are all 2.1 updates

Oooh, is that the new update still in beta? Is that worth updating to now? Figured I'd just wait till it got it's real release.

Oh boy, a lot is changed now. Do / should we start a new save? Noticed there's core drills and stuff and now there's not a slider for each ore on the New Game window.

Yeah, quite a bit has changed with 0.35.x. I’d recommend starting a new save if you want to experience the new mining progression properly.

Existing saves should still load, but they’ll be a bit of a hybrid because already-generated chunks keep their old resource layout while new chunks use the new geology system.

The big change is that named ore patches are no longer the main mapgen system. Instead you get geological indications and use Core Drilling to reveal the actual deposit, then develop and mine it from there.

That’s also why the individual ore sliders disappeared. They’ve been replaced by geology controls such as Sedimentary, Hydrothermal, Magmatic, etc., plus dedicated Iron-, Copper-, Coal- and Limestone-bearing geology controls. Frequency controls how many prospective fields appear, Size controls their footprint, and Richness affects the reserve eventually revealed by drilling.

For a fresh game, use the Industrial Alchemy: Continental Geology preset. Starter Hematite, Malachite, Coal and Limestone are guaranteed near spawn, so you shouldn’t need to hunt blindly just to get started.

If you want to keep your existing factory, it should still be usable for migration testing, but for judging the new progression I’d definitely use a fresh save.

Getting "Unknown key: "item-name.ric-geological-core" when I mine new patches. And that same error for all the ores covered. / uncovered.
Started after the 35.1 update you just did about 20min ago. The item names once mined and in my inv are also all busted now, at least name wise.
Tested on the map I started on 35.0 and fresh 35.1

0.35.2 fixed

Fixed on my end as well, same save. Thanks!

Assuming AAI issue, but Mil sci is currently only able to be made in the starting burner assembler.

Also some of the tooltips are messed up still.
Unknown key: "Recipe-name.ric-classify-hematite-mil-feed" (recipe)
Then few others same format, just: Filler-lead-concrete, filler-iron-concentrate, filler-copper-concentrate.
Then a lot of the ric-ball-mill ones where also busted. The Cone crusher ones as well as the SAG Mill, Hydrocyclone cluster, Concentrate filler press
And speaking of the ball mill building, once powered it keeps making the audio like it's working. Not sure if it's intended or not.

Also it doesn't break break anything, but AAI glass (via basic sand) makes normal non base game glass not your mods.. Which makes it worthless.
Not a big deal if it's a pain to fix or remove that tech. But just a FYI.

Thanks! Tooltips / tech fixed on my end. TY for adding that glass reclaim.

Only thing still busted is the Cone Crusher still making hamming sounds at idle when powered. I played around with it and it triggers once it has power once. I removed the power pole and it still keeps making the sound even once power is removed again. I even ripped them all up to make sure that wasn't somehow it.

I also have the Combat Overhaul mod on (link at bottom) that says it's effecting it on the toolip. Is Real Ores > Combat > AAI Indy.
But every other building is like that as well, so not sure that mod is doing anything.

Replying here as I didn't think needed a new thread.

Can you restore the old oil stuff you just took out? Our massive power plant just got nuked and everything is on fire now as we were using that for power... We have millions of % in crude oil but only one coal patch so it's kind of our lifeline atm... With solid fuel / adv oil cracking. Was also a nice neat loop that was the only thing in this mod that didn't take a day to figure out. x.x

We know we gotta get a "real" mod oil thing going to make the items but we're still trying to get the basics going and now we have no power. Plz lol.
It's not like we can use the base game oil for anything but fuel blocks.

If not of course, we'll go figure it out I guess. But before we tear it all down and spend a day trying to figure out how the heck we're gonna turn all this oil and gas into anything wanted to ask.

The plastic stings a bit, but we we're not really using that. And it did feel really oddly out of place lol. Feel bad for anyone already having that at scale. x.x

Lmao, I'm sorry for being partially responsible for nuking your power setup, fyi natural gas and products from it can all be burned for steam making, just one product isn't burnable but is used to make plastic, oil needs a little bit of waste management but is also workable

Lol how dare you! I saw that it CAN be. But we looked at that nightmare level of 100 products...and went yeahhh solid fuel. Plus the AAI fuel converters take that oil and give us 15% more fuel for our oil lol.

It was also nice to have a easy copy paste small setup we could just title as needed. Even if we still placing it all by hand still cuz RIP no bots. (Gotta fight our way to tin now that we found Lead at last).

DIdn't have any waste, was self loop. Didn't have to worry about one thing jamming the other, etc etc. Will need to figure it out semi soon anyways for items but for power was nice to place and forget. We have so many oil fields it's insane. Millions of % yield was not a joke lol. No idea what crack the map gen was on but we're all for it. Scaling our one "real" coal patch coulda worked but that's needed for coke and makes more waste rock that's gotta be hauled off to the landfill plant.

Which isn't super hard but given the 100 steps of everything else in this, power being simple and worry free was a small mercy.

Oh and I didn't know this form puts replies up top. Why didn't make a new thread about it, the idea was not to bother random people finding the form from reading this ever growing off the 1st topic thread. I looked like how did u even bother to read this far down? Saw it was near the top now. x.x

Oh and shadow, how do you deal with power? Even a basic single red belt setup using the "best" way with all the primary crushing and the like 10 mill building chain eats so much power. Like 100 MWs. It's 150 steam boilers to just run a single red iron belt of incoming low qual ore. x.x

40hours in and we still don't have anything basic fully automated. We have a single red belt of pig iron. That's it. Copper is a life support handful of basic fueled crushers still. Everything is just a massive pain, and the power draw alone is insane. I don't think they power costs were really considered here. The base game steam engines are just too dinky. When the you need like 18 ball / SAG mils and they're 1.5 MW ish a pop. x.x

Edit, just ran a rate tool on it. About 120-125 MW for 30 whole pig iron/s. Soo yeah about 140 steam engines. :/
Figure with miners that's least 150+ Maybe 175 if you count the power needed to make the fuel.

We might have to call it with this mod. We don't even want to think about the 6 year life years it's gonna take to get a rocket off the ground, much less the other planets at this rate.

Cool idea mod...but the nuking of the power plant might just be the end for us.

Edit: Yeahh looking at even blue sci stuff, which we've made all of zero "red chip" items... there's even MORE steel nonsense. We thought great. We at least finished basic iron....nope. You can't just use steel. You need pig iron, fancy pig iron, and flux....which is 2 more ores, and ughh. Then you get normal steel and fancy steel which means you can have the fancy steel back up if the basic steel isn't used in...whatever. Then there's waste fancy steel...cause fo course there was. There wasn't enough waste products in all the other steps. -.-

This mod is turning into what feels like a full time job where you need like 10 friends, each running one tiny section like power, iron, copper, waste, etc to make any progress. Which sucks as I like a lot of the ideas / having more than just basic iron / copper.

Oh and shadow, how do you deal with power? [...]

You'd assume I delt with it.... the summary of my setup is:
Primary 64 boilers stack on coke
Secondary 44 Boiler stack on coke
Tertiary Combined 32 "Boiler" stack
with latest additions of some solar panels, accumulators and efficiency modules for a 206MW theoretical max

The caveats:
There are two problems with this set up, firstly the coke is being burned through, I have standard grade source so it's tolerable but it is quite a lot of burning
Secondly, I don't have biters so I'm not concerned about pollution that much and can use some of the less clean routes
I did spend around 30ish? maybe more hours without any research running bridging the green to blue science
both of my copper and iron set-ups can easily eat up around 100MW each, and my factory is running at 40-100MW when they aren't running at full speed
That is to say, I do not have my power solved and it is wonky, though at this point I can safely run blue research without any blackouts (due to other bottlenecks that stop everything from running at full speed....)

The tertiary stack is actually all gas/oil cracking that is being converted for steam into a 125k steam buffer, it usually would last around 2mins before it runs out, because the gas burning was so slow compared to normal boilers in earlier versions (natural gas also depends on production or dumping of plastic, oil depends on treating waste products for concreate etc) (and also the slow decay of speed at which I get to extract oil and gas compared to initial rate)

I'll have to excuse myself as I gotta fix my setup for making the stuff after the rebalance of seed of various machines lmao...

[pt 1/2]

Thought it'd type it in separate part as it's a somewhat unrelated thought about power issues etc. While my factory has been somewhat struggling with power etc, the setup for gas/oil to steam is somewhat simple and an absolute joy to make (side note: I use solid fuel from fuel gas for trains)

do forgive the utter mess a discord attachment link is as a way to share an ingame screenshot
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/420250165174075412/1548285084979699742/image.png?ex=6aa6805a&is=6aa52eda&hm=0be779d66d84af697a8fd14cd85782a2abbe39ea921717ee32f0331ba89c6c90

I was pretty afraid of oil processing so started with gas;

Natural Gas -> 5 fractions
Natural Gas -> steam + vent flue gas
4/5 fractions -> steam + vent flue gas
1/5 (ethane) -> cracked into plastic pre-requisite and hydrogen (I just stockpiled them until needed, and they do both come in useful later on)

the beauty of it all is that they all can use the same layout (other than Ethane), and can all be burned for power when you have too much of em, so it just matter of having buffer tank with a pipe on condition to go into the burning setup, and if you are desperate you can also burn natural gas

Oil was more scary, 6 products
but, 1 overlaps with natural gas, and another 4 can be also burned for steam
last one is sour water, which is a small issue but is used for concreate making so its alright, and coal tar which used to be the byproduct of coke for other things can also be distilled and overlaps fully with the oil power so it can be hooked into it, with some waste gas that needs venting

overall it is pretty simple to make a brick of boilers and hook up the conditions for steam making or to be smarter about it and start processing it into fuel gas/syngas etc and make solid fuel out of it or other products, but it the wonder of it all is that you can pretty much always get rid of byproducts of gas/oil without other parts of the factory

only deadlocks are: no power at all, too much steam, wrong ratio of burning products of cracking, ethane that bastard and sour water
This is more of an aux power setup as it relies on stable-ish production of oil/gas and actually not using the products of cracking for intended use... but now that boilers are way more efficient/fast it's probably pretty solid, and it is kind of built-in when you make any oil processing as it saves it from deadlocking in the first place
