g 0.8 changes look great

Wow, I'm looking at the changes for 0.8 and it looks like they address a lot of the problems I had with the planet, particularly capturing pylons.

I love that quality has an impact on the pylons. However, I'm not sure the radius is really the most important factor. I may be using it wrong, but really I've just set up one pylon per planet, and I just construct buildings in that LZ, then pick them up and place them where I really want them. Even if they are easier to get, I wouldn't see myself like, covering my planets in a network of them. IMO speed is the thing I would want to upgrade via quality. If the legendary pylon can warp buildings in 5x as fast, that's worthwhile.

I will make another trip to the planet and see how the vault capturing goes. I need more for future planets anyway!

I wouldn't call that using it wrong, I originally thought the pylon as something you carry around in spidertron etc. But making a large network should be possible, too.
With speed do you mean crafting time or the time it takes to actually land? The landing time can not be affected by anything currently, but I am planning to rework the underlying mechanics anyways, so that part should get faster in the future.

Yeah by speed I mean the total time between when I place the ghost building and arrival. The idea of carrying them around in Spidertrons is really interesting! I'd love to see that worked in as a future enhanced tech. Either the core gets worked in as part of an enhanced spidertron recipe, or as grid equipment.

I imagine you're already thinking about this, and I know graphics/assets can be a lot of work, but a couple things on the visuals of the warping:

  1. Right now it looks more like buildings are getting dropped from orbit. It would be awesome if there was a more Protoss-y warp in animation.

  2. Right now the pylon is hard to visually locate in a base. It has the same model as the Maraxsis conduit which I assume you knew, but it's smaller. If it's possible to make it work visually distinct that would be awesome both for flavor and some practicality. Even something relatively simple like a palette swap, maybe using either your purple or orange theme from the planet.

  3. Additionally, a more obvious "cast bar" or some kind of animation/glow on the pylon as it's warping stuff in would be both flavorful and a useful visual indicator.
