Hey, I just got started with Panglia, and I'm really digging a lot of things about it, including the FF9 references.
I wanted to mention a few things I think are particularly great and draw your attention to a potential bug/exploit - though, please don't fix it =). I also played Moshine which is great.
First, Panglia does a great job of looking very distinct from other planets. The surface is weird and kinda creepy, in a different way from other weird surfaces. I love the mini-universe concept, definitely giving me R&M vibes. The self-sustaining material is also an interesting concept.
For the "get power from roots concept", I'm seeing a couple problems. One is, it's not super obvious how to get started with that. I'm getting that there's a planting cycle for branbalite, and I guess I feed the slurry down there and get power? (Some of this type of "figure it out" is fun, so not saying this is bad). The main "problem" is that at least based on my current tech, other than just for fun/fully exploring the planet, I don't think I would ever really need to do this. My hypercell solar panels are generating almost 40 MW so it seems like my easiest power solution is solar. So I might suggest some kind of nerf to solar - like on Tenebris, solar is 0% or 1% or something, and on Rabbasca, solar + accums just can't be used at all. You don't want to make it too hard to get started of course, but if you really want players to interact with those roots you might need to be a little harsh with disallowing other options.
Second main "issue" I'm seeing, which has been fantastically helpful - it looks like quality modules cannot be used in the "paglia baking" process. However, the furnace can benefit from the Maraxsis Conduit, so with that it's super easy to get massive quantities of panglite at any quality I want. This in turn trivializes making some high quality things. Like, I've been "making" quality LDS on Fulgora primarily (that's my quality hub) but now I can just get an unlimited amount of epic/legendary LDS on Panglia for almost no work.
Just my opinion, but I would not want that just removed, because as far as I can tell there isn't a way to get quality panglite otherwise, which I very much want in order to make quality structures (hypercrusher, cosmic incubator, etc). Some ideas:
-
If you really want to disallow quality panglite (for reasons mentioned above), you could change the structures to require a liquid form of it (panglite slurry, or something). This would then still allow me to build any quality of hypercrusher I want as long as I have the other mats.
-
You could allow recycling on panglite.
-
The big "problem" with quality panglite is the "breeding" effect. Once I have even a few of the quality I want, I can just warm up the ones I have to get ~infinity. As a potential fix, maybe when panglite is heated it either loses all quality, has a chance to lose quality, always loses one quality tier, or something. Not sure how much of that is programmatically possible given quality engine limitations.
Overall, really great mod and I'm just starting to get into it. My request would be, please don't fix this quality "exploit" without giving the player some kind of way to do make those quality structures.
Thanks for the fun planet mods!
