I couldn't see what killed me. Maybe my own artillery?

The mod Enhanced Remote Vehicle Control (formally Neural Spidertron Control) (2.3.0) caused a non-recoverable error.
Please report this error to the mod author.

Thanks for reporting, I hope you are enjoying the mod

The mod handles normal disconnects when the player and vehicle are on different surfaces, but the code didnt parse through the engineers surface in the emergency disconnect function. So the emergency connect assumes the engineer is on the current planet, when it's not, it causes a crash.
