g Possible conflict with Astroponics?

(updated a month ago)

I suspect the update today may be overriding a change in Astroponics, not sure if thats possible but its the only thing I can think of from my mod list that seems marginally related. My guess is something having to do with Zen Garden compatibility. Or maybe something else about astroponics compatibility.

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/astroponics/changelog

New setting when Early Agriculture is not installed: "More wood" buffs Tree astroponics yields from 4 to 10 wood.

However since updating a set of mods including this one, astroponics has reverted to yielding 4 wood on the recipe, which is killing my ships. My mod list does have astroponic 1.8 which includes the buff.

Hopefully Im correct that this is the conflict and the change or fix is easy, otherwise I can try investigating further.

I see that theres a mod setting that globally does this increase for all wood sources. Not sure if this is new, toggling this does buff all my wood everywhere including astroponics.

I'm hiding the Astroponics setting for more wood so there is only one global setting to increase wood from all sources. Do you think they should both be available? Although they wouldn't stack. But you could increase astroponics wood without increasing the rest.

It probably doesn't need to be a separate setting. But if you do keep it a combined setting, I think a good compromise is that maybe astroponics appears in the setting text in case you're trying to search for it, cause I had initially assumed that this setting had nothing to do with it.

"Increase wood from all sources (including astroponics)" something like that

I'm playing with Lignumis in its default Director's Cut config and definitely hit this problem.

Wood on planets is harsh, difficult to get enough, but space platforms are absurd. Half my ships are just for growing wood!

After struggling, I looked around I saw that there was an option to increase wood, but it's tagged as "Easy Mode" so I figured that it wasn't the "intended" way to play.

The problem is... that's not true.

Astroponics:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/astroponics/discussion/68f263fc8b85694c495b7570

the mod was originally balanced around having Early Agriculture enabled, which buffs the wood yield from trees to 10

The out-of-the-box Lignumis experience causes brutal gameplay on Space Platforms that was NOT intended by the Astroponics author.

Honestly, my opinion of Lignumis would be a lot better if the increased wood mode was the default. Requiring wood for circuits/belts/inserters/ammo slowly progressed from 'interesting' to 'tedious' as I realised how many agri towers I needed.

Do you play with Wooden Industry? I didn't really test the balancing together with that mod.

If not, your opinion on what's "difficult", "absurd" or "brutal" is clearly different than mine. The good news is: That's totally valid and that's why I added the settings. Use them to get the game you enjoy. Don't feel unsettled just because I added an "easy" label.

Specifically about Astroponics: I added a research for astroponics productivity, giving 50% at the highest level. That is Lignumis content and not included in Safs balancing. It's the equivalent of having the lumber mill on the planets. There is also a setting to make it an infinite research. Btw. you can reduce the number of space gardens with speed modules and quality gardens. With the trade-off of increased energy usage of course.

We don't have to agree on the defaults for the settings. I made it how I like it most. That's especially true for the DC. For people like you, there are the settings and the option to play the regular Lignumis version where everything that changes the game outside of Lignumis can be disabled (and mostly is by default).
