g Possible problem with Rampant

Hey. This is a great mod that I've enjoyed for a while but I think I've encountered a problem that might be associated with the Rampant, fixed mod (https://mods.factorio.com/mod/RampantFixed?from=search). It has to do with biters appearing on Lignumis. In the past I never encountered biters on Lignumis, only the pentapods. These enemies were always reasonably handled by my defenses, even once I got to Nauvis. However, in my most recent playthrough, the enemies were the normal pentapods and then suddenly I started getting attacked by large biters that are absolutely wrecking my base, even with a continuous defensive wall with turrets. This was completely out of the blue, having never seen a biter before this time and it feels like the enemy difficulty exploded all of a sudden with these biters making it impossible to defend the base on Lignumis. My guess is that this is more an issue with Rampant fixed, especially since I first encountered this after that mod was updated on August 10th. But I thought I'd mention it here as well.

Same thing with Enemy Race Manager I'm using, was chilling on Lignumis about to leave the planet and got hit by a massive wave... reloaded and I'm able to sustain now (tons of wooden walls and gun turrets, however that'll only last so long since I cannot set up auto repair until I'm coming back from Nauvis with the tech researched...). ERM triggers waves when evolution is over 30%, maybe Rampant does something similar. I don't know if either Lignumis or ERM settings can prevent biters appearing on Lignumis... :-/

My plan now is that I have placed a ton of new and healthy walls and gun turrets and other stuff in some sort of parking lot, and when defense or other stuff gets destroyed (which will happen inevitably), I'll move some stuff from the parking lot to the border via Even Pickier Dollies while I'm on Nauvis... bit cheaty and I'll probably give up the hassle and rebuild Lignumis base from scratch when I return, but that's the best idea I had...

Hm. In my opinion that should be handled by those mods. They cannot just alter all planets, treating them the same as Nauvis. Maybe also check the settings of those mods.

If you want to continue without compatibility: The first base on Lignumis is not very valuable. I usually come back with lots of bots and shiny new machines and tear down everything old anyway.

Thanks for your reply! I'll think about reporting it to ERM, I share your view, that should be configurable.

Just for fun: Now I use Planet Hoppers - you can build them very early on Nauvis and shoot yourself (without inventory) back to Lignumis and do some repairs and such. And then build the usual Lignumis basic rocket to get back to Nauvis (you can't build a Planet Hopper there, because it needs steel). It's totally stupid and I will probably give it up again, but it's fun to find workarounds. :-)

I wonder what their response is. I don’t know about Rampant, I don’t use it since it kicked my b*tt terribly, so I thought I’d give ERM a try. :-)
