Cloud Crafting

Machines with special module can now pull ingredients and gather outputs directly from / into special cloud chests. Should not work with quality. NOT FOR HUGE FACTORIES!

g Will there be a cloud tank as well?

Would be real nice if it works with liquids as well.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. I need to investigate this question, it shouldn't be that difficult but I didn't touch fluids in LUA code at all yet.

By the way, how you find this mod? Did you try it on relatively big factory scale?

Works great XD
Havent gone too far in yet.
Just at blue science.
Will try going big this week.

Another couple things.

The mod doesn't provide rocket materials to rocket silo. Might be something on my side, but putting the cloud module in the silos doesn't seem to do anything.

Maybe have a roboport like building to limit the area for sharing input and outputs from/to machines and cloud chests. I haven't done anything exclusive yet, but might help with performance when I go big. Also an options to choose between share within the limit or surface or even global might be nice for someone who want's a more cheaty experience. It might allow for multiple networks too.

  • Machines: rocket silo should not work, mod only serves entities that inherit furnace or assembling machine prototypes which are electric furnace, all types of crafters, chemical plant, foundry, electo-magnetic plant, recycler, cryo-plant and even bio-crafter but I will take a look on it, eventually it might happen that other machines would start leaching rockets' payload XD
  • Cross-surface option: yes, it's doable, on early stage mod didn't have surface limitation at all and I made it after eventually my Fulgora recyclers started spitting scrap into my chests on Vulcan and it messed things a little
  • Limiting radius (kinda roboport): I'm afraid from calculation point of view it is "cheaper" to simply satisfy machines' requests rather than calculate which logistic group it belongs to and which chests are available. I become a little paranoid of UPS because of how my another mod literally made my PC lagging each second once I placed only 450 of modded entities (https://mods.factorio.com/mod/material-storage/discussion/672e6a2b0836644d01fcd643)

Also just to highlight another useful thing: machine can take output from another machine so it's not mandatory to have cloud chest for each item, say you could avoid of having cloud chests at all, but if you got an assembler with copper wire and a furnace with iron plates, another assembler that making circuits could reach them for both wire and plates
