Hey, I think I found a bug!

I'm doing a play through with Krastorio 2 - Spaced Out (https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Krastorio2-spaced-out), and I've noticed that I can't actually back up my boat in the water. The animation plays, and the boat consumes fuel. It just doesn't go in reverse. I've only tried it out with the little boat that you can place freely in the water, but it might also impact the larger ships on the waterways.

Just wanted to let you know. Thanks so much for this awesome mod.

It works for me with nothing but spaced out and cargo ships installed. Is your boat stuck on a bit of shallow water or something?

I don't think so. When I was troubleshooting, I also disabled all mods (aside from the default Space Age mods) except for spaced out and cargo ships. The boat drives in all directions except backwards.

I just double-checked before responding and can replicate the issue in the editor on a newly spawned map.

Edit to add: I'm playing on a Mac. Maybe that's part of the issue?

You better send me your save file. That's the only way I'll be able to replicate it. Post a Google drive link or similar.

For this one, I spawned the boat and a small coal patch next to the little lake that the map generates (to the south of the starting position). All settings are default.

Thanks for the file! I can confirm the behavior you are seeing in that file, and even placed a second boat with the same problem. Boats on rails could go backwards (expected since they use train movement instead of cars).

I started a new save with the exact same mod configuration and the boat can go backwards again. I have no idea why it would be stopped from going backwards in your specific save. Maybe try verifying the game files in Steam or downloading a fresh zip copy?

I re-verified the cache and started a completely new save ... but no luck. Same behavior. I also noticed that the boat doesn't want to move if I use wood as fuel rather than coal; not sure of those issues are connected or separate.

You mentioned that the freely drivable boat uses car movement, so I spawned a car. My thought was that maybe, if the boat was broken, the car would also be broken since they used the same logic. But no dice. Car works.

If I uninstall Spaced Out, the boat also works as intended. So, it's something about that mod and the interaction between that one and this one ... but (for now) only on my machine. Sounds like this one might not be easily solvable.
