I can't for the life of me figure out how to place down the bridge. The error is unclear and to what I can guess, incorrect and misleading.

Above are some of my attempts at placing the bridge. I have no idea if this is a bug or not, but this can't be normal behavior. If it is, some better error messages are necessary and a better description of what's necessary to place it should be somewhere accessible in-game. Either from the science menu or on the bridge's text itself.

I've just tested and I'm able to place the bridge in all those situations myself, so it does seem to be a bug. You can test for yourself by building out several tiles away from any land and presumably it still won't be placeable. You can also try uninstalling all other mods to see how it should function. For us to fix it, we'd need to know what other mods you are using, either as a list or a save file that I can sync to.

I assume just the zip file is enough. I hope this helps. I'll do some experimenting too

Thanks, I can confirm that it seems to be broken in your save. I'm having a look now with a step debugger.

Got it: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Building_Time is creating some hidden entities which Cargo Ships is seeing and thinking that they are blocking placement of the bridge. I can confirm that removing the mod fixes the issue.

I'm not sure how to fix the compatibility though, so for now you'll have to choose between Building Time and bridges.
