Are elevated pipes supposed to be not freezing?
I'm still not sure why I find sometimes some of the mod settings set to non-default values when I enable a mod - whether it pulls in old settings when I had it as a dependency with something else, or it's one way mods tweak the behavior of their dependencies - therefore, intentional.
I'm seeing elevated pipes "freezes" check on (which is non-default according to UI) with Paracelsin (installed with Krastorio 2 Spaced Out, its 4 primary fully supported recommended planets, + Rubia (+ Paracelsin) + Null's tweaks + XYRC's tweaks incl. late game science multiplier from XYRC).
And I'm not sure what the intent / actual default of Paracelsin is. If elevated pipes don't freeze, it's weird because they are much cheaper (and more of them fit into rockets) than insulated pipes. Yes, they still require zinc, but no other advanced materials, like insulated pipes do, and they are easier to haul from planet to planet.
Should they freeze instead?
