  Changes:
    - Crafting menu: the Biotech tab is now split into 8 rows: Machines, Sand and glass, Plant chain, Carbon materials, Fluids and fuel, Circuits and components, Science packs and Rocket parts. Every row has a name.
Version: 2.1.15
Date: 2026-11-07

Version: 2.1.13
Date: 2026-11-01
  Changes:
    - The burner sand miner is gone. The base-game burner mining drill now mines sand ore too. Old saves: burner sand miners already placed are replaced by burner mining drills.
Version: 2.1.12
Date: 2026-10-31
  Changes:
    - Crushing Industry: the "glass pane from glass" recipe is now unlocked together with Crushing Industry's glass instead of being available from the start.
Version: 2.1.11
Date: 2026-10-31
  Changes:
    - The first photosynthesis panel and the sugar solution are now unlocked by Carbon technology 1 instead of being available from the start. With Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis they are still unlocked with its greenhouse glass research.
Version: 2.1.10
Date: 2026-10-31
  Changes:
    - Research order: the basic bioreactor, seedling, cellulose, synthetic wood, chlorophyll and carbon are now unlocked with the Automation research.
    - The BioTech automation science pack recipe is unlocked together with the other BioTech science packs (Carbon technology 1).
    - The electric sand mining drill is unlocked together with the electric mining drill.
    - The sugar solution is unlocked together with the first photosynthesis panel.
    - The glass pipe and the glass underground pipe are unlocked by the Glass technology.
    - The glass underground pipe no longer needs wood.
    - A glass pane now costs 9 silica (was 3). With Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis the panels need 45 greenhouse glass per pane (was 15) to keep the cost matched.
Version: 2.1.9
Date: 2026-10-31
  Bugfixes:
    - Fix the "Unknown item: sand" load error. Bio Industries' crushed stone to sand recipe only used our sand when the original BioTech was loaded; it now uses it with Bio Tech (Reborn) too, when no other mod adds a sand item.
Version: 2.1.8
Date: 2026-10-31
  Graphics:
    - The bio module now looks like the vanilla efficiency module recoloured brown with yellow lights.
Version: 2.1.7
Date: 2026-10-30
  Changes:
    - Map generator: the sand is now listed with the other Nauvis resources, right after uranium ore, instead of after the other planets' resources.
Version: 2.1.6
Date: 2026-10-30
  Bugfixes:
    - The sand ore patch in the Oarc spawn now also works with the revived "Oarc Multiplayer Spawn (Reborn)" (oarc-mod-reborn), which has a different mod name and was not recognised before.
Version: 2.1.5
Date: 2026-10-30
  Changes:
    - Requires Bio Industries 3.0.2 or newer (it fixes the "nitrogen does not exist" load error with the Recycler mod).
    - Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis: every sand item and sand ore, including the sand of other mods such as Crushing Industry, now uses its sand icon, so there is only one sand icon.
Version: 2.1.4
Date: 2026-10-29
  Changes:
    - Requires Bio Industries 3.0.1 or newer (the first version made for Factorio 2.1).
    - Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis: the photosynthesis panels now need 15 greenhouse glass for each glass pane they used before, so their cost stays about the same.
    - Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis: the first photosynthesis panel is unlocked together with the greenhouse glass.
    - Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis: the Bio Industries greenhouse is built with its greenhouse glass.
Version: 2.1.3
Date: 2026-10-27
  Features:
    - Krastorio 2 Greenhouse + Wood Pyrolysis support: when it is installed, the photosynthesis panels are made with its greenhouse glass instead of glass panes, and all sand icons (sand and sand ore) use its sand icon. This takes priority over the Crushing Industry sand icon.
Version: 2.1.2
Date: 2026-10-25
  Graphics:
    - The test tube has a new icon: a clear, empty glass flask that matches the science pack style.
Version: 2.1.1
Date: 2026-10-25
  Features:
    - Oarc Multiplayer Spawn support: when Oarc is installed, every new player spawn also gets a sand ore patch (same size as the iron patch) next to the other starting resources. Only applies to new games; for existing saves, add it in Oarc's own surface settings.
Version: 2.1.0
Date: 2026-10-24
  Major Features:
    - Updated for Factorio 2.1. Requires Factorio 2.1 or newer.
  Changes:
    - All BioTech recipes now use the new recipe "categories" field (the old "category" field was removed in 2.1).
    - The carbon item now uses "fuel_categories" (replaces "fuel_category").
    - The fuel cell uses the new per-direction generator pictures. It looks and rotates the same as before.
    - Sand mining drills keep their own art for all four directions (2.1 would otherwise mirror east/west drills).
    - The photosynthesis panel art no longer depends on the exact file name of the base game solar panel art.
  Info:
    - Bio Industries must also work on 2.1 (it needs a version for 2.1; 2.0.34 was the newest when this was made). If it still uses the removed 2.0 fields, Bio Tech converts them while loading so the game can start.

    - If Geothermal is installed, the Oil-Based Carbon recipe is moved from the Unsorted group to Intermediate products.
Version: 2.0.3
Date: 2026-10-10
  Changes:
    - Fiber optic cable renamed to Optical fiber to match Crushing Industry.
    - If Crushing Industry is installed, Optical fiber uses its icon.
Version: 2.0.2
Date: 2026-10-10
  Bugfixes:
    - The 7 second glass pane crafting time now only applies when Crushing Industry is installed. Otherwise it is 3.5 seconds again.
Version: 2.0.1
Date: 2026-10-10
  Features:
    - Crushing Industry compatibility: Bio Tech sand uses its sand icon, and a new recipe turns 3 Crushing Industry glass into 1 glass pane.
  Changes:
    - Sand now uses the Bio Industries sand icon.
    - Silica now requires 5 sand.
    - Glass pane now requires 3 silica.
  Graphics:
    - Glass pipes and glass pipe-to-ground are upscaled for a sharper look.
Version: 2.0.0
Date: 2026-10-08
  Major Features:
    - Updated to Factorio 2.0 and renamed to Bio Tech (Reborn).
    - Now requires Bio Industries. Duplicate items and graphics were removed in favour of the Bio Industries ones, and Bio Industries graphics are reused where it makes sense.
    - Sand patches now generate in the world, including a small one in the starting area. Sand can be mined directly.
    - Sand mining drills are real mining drills: they drop sand like a normal drill, can be rotated, and have a smooth looping animation. They use the classic drill look with a different colour per tier.
    - Added a working fuel cell that burns the sugar solution and light oil mix to produce electricity. The mix is made in a bioreactor.
  Changes:
    - Bioreactors are named Basic, Advanced and Elite Bioreactor. All of them share the recipes of both Bio Tech and Bio Industries.
    - The Basic Bioreactor keeps its original art and crafts at speed 0.75. Advanced and Elite use the Bio Industries bioreactor look in different shades.
    - Sugar solution can no longer be used as fuel.
    - Pollution absorbed by the photosynthesis panels is now a startup setting, defaulting to 8, 16 and 32 for the three tiers.
    - Removed the crafting speed startup settings. Use modules and faster machines instead.
    - Cellulose and carbon use the Bio Industries and Space Age icons.
    - Reworded the item and bioreactor descriptions.
  Graphics:
    - Photosynthesis panels are recoloured copies of the base game solar panel, in green, lime and gold, with matching icons.
    - Upscaled the fuel cell and photosynthesis panel graphics.
    - Sugar solution has a white icon and the test tube is now clear and empty.
