Water is not infinite

Makes water a finite resource. Uses a depth map: each water tile has a depth based on its type. Pumps drain lakes; depleted tiles become land. Refill with outfall pipes and rain

i This is a bucket... Dear god

An addition of a simple bucket with a pipe on it's side, useful for generating water while it is raining, like a pool but manmade, could be useful when in a desert or a place where access to water and water areas is impossible.

(The name of this discussion is a meme from tf2 if you didn't catch that)

Funny idea 😄 But a bucket of water wouldn't fill a single boiler - factories are way too thirsty! Maybe a wet air condenser or an underground pumpjack would work better in a desert

Something like that just would be appreciated, maybe a sort of big atmospheric cone thingy, a megastructure from glass that would just collect a lot of water but disable rainfall in the nearby areas, that one would be more useful but is starting to get ridiculous.

But something more in the style of an underground pumpjack would be quite close to missing the point of this mod by making water too available, maybe if it needed fissures or had underground tanks that actually had capacity like lakes but underground that then would be more balanced

I saw the https://mods.factorio.com/mod/depleting-fluids mod, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't limit underground water.

It would be nice to have subterranean water (underground lakes) and a device - maybe a scanner - to locate it. Maybe even a drilling rig to bore a well!

Starting to sound like the resource generation from the rimworld game but yes it does sounds great, though might be difficult.

Would first need a scanning machine that would most likely work like a radar but if it comes across one of these underground water caves it would mark it on a map in either a resource like way or some other way and then comes the question whether these underground pools should also slowly refill themselves like an ocean.

And finally should they be re-watered-able? As in should you be able to pump down water (or maybe some other fluids) as a way of storing them, I think this would go too much into crazy territory but it would be fun

There already is a water pumpjack mod but its a constant flat infinite rate. working like oil where its fast until it runs out and then its super slow but infinite might be nice. Although with underground water and surface water its probably enough for space exploration mod to get ice or to beat the game if vanilla.

I think that in vanilla with space age water stops being an issue around the space science due to having access to ice but I'd have to test it out cause water can be used to cool down a nuclear platform but mainly while it's flying cause otherwise you won't get enough ice, so I can't really tell if an orbital water factory could be a viable solution for nauvis in the long term. Space exploration I think would have no problem cause it has a lot of ice planets that could launch ice onto nauvis

Although, they'd look almost identical to regular lakes, just invisible. Almost nothing new 🥲

Hm... Maybe someday in the future there could be like an option for any fluid to become a pumpable fluid so you could pump all the water out of a lake and then fill it up with sulfuric acid, but that probably wouldn't see too much of use
