Makes water a finite resource. Uses a depth map: each water tile has a depth based on its type. Pumps drain lakes; depleted tiles become land. Refill with outfall pipes and rain

This mod would benefit if you could get more water water organically, like rain. You make so much steam and vent it into the atmosphere, yet there is no rain falling back to give you that water back? That makes no sense, so it would be better with something rain-esque which would naturally add some but not too much water and maybe even flood parts of your factory that are on dried out areas with no foundations

You won’t believe me :) I was just about to write to you about the rain in our previous thread. I was thinking about refilling ponds with rain from time to time, but unfortunately, there’s no rain on Nauvis. It would be a bit weird if water appeared from nowhere.

I know a couple of mods that add rain to Nauvis, but in those mods it can only be either permanently on or completely off, since the Factorio API doesn’t allow changing weather dynamically

I've seen the rain mods and they were weird, but how exactly does "weather" work in factorio?

It is just particles with sometimes added functionality, is it not? I've modded this game before but never found a "weather state".
Like think of lightning on fulgora, if that could be grabbed and put on nauvis but instead allowing previously drained water areas to go up and adding a rain particle effect on the player screen that would work.

Sure, it’s possible, but it would take a lot of work to make it great :)

It doesn't need to be now, this mod is already great fun but it might be something to make it even better

Not exactly :) The water will still stay within the pond's perimeter.
But if you have a depleted pond, it will be refilled over time. Once a pond is full, the rain will stop increasing its level - just like in real life, you know, where nature finds its balance between evaporation, rainfall, and all that stuff

Or you can find out where in the code the line that is responsible for the process of filling the reservoir is, in order to regulate the filling yourself)

Well, how fast does it happen? How often does it rain? And where is the code line that makes it rain regularly or infrequently? ) It would be helpful to have these settings available to me.
