Terra Palus

by Lukah

Adds a new hybrid planet combining features of Nauvis and Gleba. Brave the dangerous swamp moon of Terra Palus; mine Palusium ore and use UV light to freeze those that would see you destroyed.

Terra Palus 0.1.7 - The "Actually Playable" Update

First things first: I'm so sorry! It's been over a year since the last update, and I know many of you have been waiting patiently (or not so patiently!) for fixes. Life got in the way, but I'm back and committed to making Terra Palus the challenging-but-rewarding experience it was always meant to be.

This update is built entirely on YOUR feedback. Every major change came from comments on this mod page, and I want to personally thank everyone who took the time to report issues and suggest improvements. This is my first mod ever, literally ever, in any game, and I love Factorio so much. I was surprised to see 15k+ downloads in a year. I feel very honoured you played with or tried to play with my crappy mod.

This mod helped me get out of a really dark time and place in my life, it was a good learning distraction, and I appreciate your enjoyment, and I am sorry for your frustrations with my noobness. But I'm here, I'm back, and I'll keep building till it's perfect for each and every one of you.

🌍 New in 0.1.7: Localization

  • Russian translation added - Бпасибо! Thanks to Neuromatix!
  • Fixed missing locale strings for map generation settings

πŸ”§ The Big One: Recipe Rebalance

Let's address the elephant in the room - 3 million ore for one lamp was insane. You told me, I listened. This was actually a bug, I just never noticed it in my original testing. My fault, 100%.

The entire Palusium processing chain has been completely rebalanced:
- Palusium Ore: Mining time slashed, now requires water (50 units)
- Palusium Plate: 50 ore β†’ 4 ore, proper smelting time
- Palusium Powder: Now made from 5 ore in an assembler (not 25 plates in a furnace!)
- Palusium Crystal: 10 powder + 500 water in a chemical plant
- All recipes now support productivity modules

Thanks to Samario, rajonrondo76, dragon_gawain, and Mouseas for the detailed feedback on this!

⚑ UV Turret Actually Does Something Now

The UV turret was "about as strong as a few laser turrets" for 100x the cost. Fixed!

  • Damage: 1 β†’ 25
  • Fire rate doubled
  • Range: 24 β†’ 28 tiles
  • Better beam visual effect

Thanks rajonrondo76!

🌱 A Reason to Stay: Biolab Support

One of the best feedback lines was "why would I even go here?" - Terra Palus had no reward beyond the UV equipment.

Now you can place biolabs and agricultural towers on Terra Palus! Set up a challenging farming outpost on this hostile moon of Gleba.

Thanks dragon_gawain for this great suggestion!

πŸ› Critical Bugfixes

  • Lamp recipe no longer craftable from game start - now properly locked behind technology (thanks Kryzeth,
    cackling.fiend, thekabal, PieMC!)
  • Lamps work again after power loss/restore - no more replacing lamps after blackouts (thanks Lithium941!)
  • Circuit network disable actually disables lamps (thanks Lithium941!)
  • All items now have weight parameters - ship them via rocket! (thanks Lithium941, PieMC!)

✨ Quality of Life

  • Purple lamps by default - easier to spot on your base and minimap (thanks Fr_Dae!)
  • Night vision warning instead of forced removal - manage your own equipment (thanks Scherazade!)
  • Solar power in orbit: 20% β†’ 100% - reasonable for solar ships (thanks Kalasen!)
  • Optional PlanetsLib support - proper orbit visualization around Gleba

πŸ“œ License

Terra Palus is released under the MIT License. I don't have a public Git because you get all the files when you download it. Feel free to fork, modify, learn from, and build upon this mod!

What's Next?

Still got some planned for future updates:
- UV grenades and more Ultravium uses
- Turret upgrade research
- Some new machines/appliances for your factory pleasure
- Visual polish and more music
- Continued balancing based on your exceptionally valuable and valued feedback

Thank you to everyone who stuck around and provided feedback. This update wouldn't exist without you.

Now get out there and freeze sum' biters!

Nice to see an update

The dates you've supplied in the actual changelog file seem to be incorrect? They're asserting that all of the patches date from January of this year, when that can't possibly be true considering you merged Refining Rebalance in and I only released that in June

Thanks Talandar99! I'll keep the updates coming.

Thanks Samario - they were definitely incorrect, my fault. Updated the changelog dates to be correct in 0.1.8!
