g Great work

Great job publishing this mod.

I actually had ideas for this too, but the scope I had wanted was too large and my time was too limited.
Specifically, I had wanted to have two required building constraints - heat management and support requirements. Deeper you go, hotter the layers are and you need more cooling power just to run the factory. Support requirements would increase as you go down to deeper levels to support the mass above it.

Thanks! You're actually touching on some features that I have been thinking about and planning for. I would like to further expand the underground behavior so that players need to setup "cieling supports" that hold up large open caverns. They would likely behave similar to the lightning rods on Fulgora, where they combine together into a safe-zone.

I have also wanted to toy with the heat changes of different levels. It seems logical that the geothermal power plants would be more effective further underground since there is more heat to tap deeper. I was thinking more of a "smog" mechanic than heat for clogging up machines but I think conceptually it's basically the same.

I will keep these ideas in mind for the future!

Yea. The problem is ceiling supports would require a bunch of runtime scripting to listen to events. If the event location was too far from any support then a collapse event would happen which would destroy machines. Possible but a lot of work.

The easiest way to do the heat/smog mechanic would be to define a a surface effect, then use a special beacon to reverse the effect.

For ceiling supports it might be possible to use the lightning mechanics from Fulgora and make a new version of those for cave-ins. The surface effect + beacon sounds interesting, I hadn't thought of that, but having something like a beacon with filtering modules that spoil over time or something might be interesting.

I figure a cave in doesn't need to be a constant threat, just one that will probably happen. Even if it can only occur once every 100 seconds It's still important.
