Planet Vesta

A gas giant in the distance. There appears to be a lone chunks of rock spread about in the almost concerningly thick atmosphere. Vesta is the gas world, and all about gases. There are quite a few ways to play the mod: Easy Mode, which features a reduced recipe chain. Less intermediates, less structures. Platform Mode, which removes the rock formations and places you on a lone platform. Realistic Gases Mode, which replaces all the icons and world generation with more realistic colors.

g Too many clean filters in the 'algae filter treatment'?

(updated 25 days ago)

Hi CPU_BlackHeart,

I suspect that the 'algae filter treatment' is returning too many clean filters.

The recipe says, that "85% Simple water filter" is part of the output, which probably means that 15% are sorted out as broken.
This is why replacement filters are ready to fill the quota for the broken ones.

However, this line is never active as there are apparently no unusable filters!
In fact, there are too many of them!
There are so many that I have to use recyclers to get rid of the overflow; otherwise, the whole loop would stop due to 'clean filter backup'!

Could you please take a look at the formula?
Is it possible it adds 15% clean filters instead of subtracting them?

EDIT: No, I do not use productivity modules!

Other than that:
Have you recently changed the surface generation?
There are more large islands now.
I like it! :)

Is it possible the excess is coming from the algae production side? The biochamber has an innate 50% productivity bonus without modules and so it turns filters into slightly more clogged filters.

Ah, this is entirely possible! I haven't considered this side!
This recipe promises a return of only 85% clogged filters as well, but obviously this is a too high value to "compensate" the innate 50% productivity bonus.

Is this intended? (Maybe. Only CPU_BlackHeart can tell.)
But does it make sense?
Do all those additional filters just appear magically "out of thin air"?

In my opinion, clean and clogged filters should even out, with the occasional need to replace a broken one.
In the current approach, producing additional filters is completely pointless and the production line can be demolished after the initial filters were created.

I kinda wish there was a way to define certain resources as "conserved" so they can't benefit from productivity. That way you can get extra algae but no extra filters.
