Hi,
First, thanks for this excellent mods (and in general Planetaris). I have a lot of fun playing those planets.
I just unlocked the ruby laser, and when looking at it, it doesn't seems such an upgrade compared to the laser. The cost 5 laser turrets, consume 50% more energy and deal 25% more damage.
So the ruby laser is a lot more expensive to craft and less efficient (dmg/energy). So the damage upgrade seems irrelevant.
So the main upgrade must be the range. But when calculating the number of shot to cross the range for the fastest enemy (behemot wasp), it just change from 1 shot to 2 shots. I can build instead 3 turret to consume the same amount of energy and deal more damage to the wasp.
Is the gain supposed to be the increased density of fire due to better overlapping range? In that case the same could be done by just building more rw of laser turret, there is currently no need for more than 1 or 2 rows anywhere.
Suggestion: keep the same energy per shot efficiency by increasing the damage to 30. The shooting speed increase can be removed to compensate and the range increase is balanced by the extra crafting cost.
Other possibility is to reduce the craft cost given how marginal the upgrade is, but I would prefer the ruby laser to be a meaningful upgrade.
