In this Factorio prequel, you're an android terraforming planets and seeding them with life. Replaces all recipes and technology. No life means no coal, oil, wood, biters, or free oxygen, requiring varied renewable energy sources. For reliability, you'll focus on abundant elements from the air, sea, or common minerals such as iron ore, bauxite, sandstone, and calcite. Advanced technology enables asteroid mining of rarer elements.

g Any way to do Electricity Direct to heat?

So far I'm absolutely loving this Mod - I think you should have licensed the premise to Wube - to me it's much more realistic! And how much things reflect real world recipes/formulations is amazing.
One question I have - is there a way to generate heat from electricity - basically a resistance heater? Looking to store my excess wind power into thermal tanks connected to Sterlings. Is there a device there but higher tech that I haven't reached - not sure what percent up the tech tree I am - it's a huge tech tree (another amazing piece of this game)...I hit Physics research a little while ago - waiting on the Automation 3 checkpoint atm. But I feel like a simple electric heater with like 90% efficiency would be pretty realistic - the whole storing energy in "hot rocks" as Dr. Volts likes to say.

There isn't a device for that. It would create a complicated balancing loop to make sure it's not an infinite energy source converting it back and forth. It would be a very niche thing to do, that I don't think a lot of people would have a reason to do, since it's a lot simpler to just build batteries. And it's not super realistic, since even though converting electricity to heat is realistic, it's an inefficient storage method that loses a lot of energy converting it back to electricity, and the game engine doesn't simulate heat loss in thermal storage over time.

In the Space Age compatible version of the mod, I may rethink how heat works a bit and give it some more uses, in which case it might make sense to provide an electric heater machine. Instead of the electric boiler in the current mod you could boil water by connecting an electric heater to a heat exchanger.
