Nullius

In this Factorio prequel, you're an android terraforming planets and seeding them with life. Replaces all recipes and technology. No life means no coal, oil, wood, biters, or free oxygen, requiring varied renewable energy sources. For reliability, you'll focus on abundant elements from the air, sea, or common minerals such as iron ore, bauxite, sandstone, and calcite. Advanced technology enables asteroid mining of rarer elements.

g checkpoint question

I just updated the game and suddenly all these checkpoints appeared. I am just starting the physics techs, and the first checkpoint I have encountered is the one to build 40 pump-2s. But I've already built way more than 40 of them. If I make that research node my active research, it says I am 20% complete.

Are there instructions somewhere about these checkpoints that I haven't found?

Ok, now I see. I have built many of these pump-2s for use in recipes, but I haven't actually placed 40 of them. Every time I place one, the increment goes up a little.

Maybe the wording should say "place" instead of "build".

All right, one further comment. I see that some of the earlier checkpoints say "produce" something, and some say "build" something. "Produce" seems pretty unambiguous, but apparently by "build" you mean to place it in your factory as opposed to "producing" it?

You might want to rethink "build" as your verb, because it seems ambiguous to me. I would have thought "building" a part and "producing" a part was the same thing.

All checkpoints correspond to the values monitored by the production statistics window, which has production and consumption panels for items and fluids plus a building tab. The verbiage is based on the closest in-game precedent. However, you're not the first person to interpret build as a synonym for produce, and "place" does seem harder to misinterpret. So I'll change that wording.

Thanks.

I'm really enjoying your mod.
