Item Network

by y_e_a_r

This mod adds a new logistics mechanic: The Item Network. It replaces trains and logistics bots by teleporting items and fluids directly between Network Chests and Tanks.

Is there anyone who can help me update to the Space Age version?

I tried to adapt, but alas. Need to look at additional changes in scripts.

Thank you for trying, but I don't understand computer language at all. Please keep up the good work, I'd really appreciate it!

I managed to get it to load in game and you can place the network chests however when you set an item and it goes to insert it the logic fails and it throws an assert error but unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough with LUA to fix it. :(

So, I've now managed to get it so the items can be provided and requested but anything to do with logistics or the network sensor is currently broken. Trying to investigate further.

I know this is not an easy job, so I don't want to put any pressure on you. I just hope you know that I've been paying attention all the way. Since the original author doesn't plan to update, maybe you can reopen this thread.

If you managed to update this mod, you could make it available, even if it is not fully functional, use us as beta testers, if that error appears, we will send you the text that appears, so you will have more information, to be able to fix it.
Sorry, for the bad English, but I'm Italian

Check out this mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/item-network-Cost it's a bit newer. Also the original mod author has a v2 on github. It was updated 4 months ago (link on information page)

So, I've managed to make some more progress - I've managed to get the Network Sensor working. Now if I'm honest I'm tempted to remove all Logistic code so it doesn't automatically put items in the players/vehicles inventories as that is why we have Roboports right... what do you lot think?

I've also added a new function not in the original mod... lol

If I were you, instead of taking away player and vehicle self-supply, I would let the players decide that.

Whilst I do agree I'd like to keep them however the way the Logistic changes have been done it's completely changed how you call player/vehicle logistics which is currently what I'm figuring out now. However I would say I'm at the last big hurdle once this is figured out I can release the mod :)

Actually, I don't want to change anything except the graphic. ^^"

I'm working on the logistics but it's not a simple fix since these systems were heavily changed so figuring out the new methods is being a challenge.

Check this mod out, they scan the logistics to see what needs to be filled from what is around them. Might help. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/ManualLogistics
