Industrial Worlds
Industrial Worlds is a framework for running major Factorio overhaul ecosystems on their own dedicated worlds instead of allowing several overhauls to rewrite the same starting planet.
Version 0.0.4 introduces the first fully integrated industrial world:
Angelus — Angel/Bob Industrial World
Angelus is a dedicated planet for the Angel's and Bob's ecosystem.
Nauvis remains on the normal Factorio / Space Age progression path, while Angelus receives its own:
- Angel/Bob resources and world generation
- Angel/Bob production chains
- dedicated science progression
- dedicated laboratories
- surface-aware research milestones
- Bob technology progression
- Bob enemy ecosystem
- Bob Classes compatibility
- Angel refining, petrochem and smelting progression
- isolated late-game tungsten and lithium routes
- local low-density structure production
- Angel/Bob-specific Space Age compatibility rules
Items may still be transported between worlds, but production and progression are deliberately controlled by world ownership.
This means installing an overhaul no longer has to turn Nauvis itself into that overhaul.
Two Worlds, Two Industrial Ecosystems
Nauvis
Nauvis remains the canonical Factorio / Space Age world.
Vanilla resources, recipes, machines and progression continue to belong to the standard industrial ecosystem.
Angelus
Angelus owns the Angel/Bob industrial ecosystem.
Recipes, laboratories, resources, technologies and important production milestones are constrained to Angelus rather than globally replacing Nauvis progression.
Industrial Worlds also protects research triggers that Factorio normally evaluates force-wide. Important milestones are tracked using production on the correct surface so producing something on Angelus cannot accidentally complete the corresponding Nauvis technology, and vice versa.
Angelus Science
Angelus has its own versions of the six main science packs:
- Automation science
- Logistic science
- Military science
- Chemical science
- Production science
- Utility science
Angelus also has a dedicated laboratory for these science packs.
Bob's later laboratory tiers and alien/gold science progression remain part of the Angelus ecosystem rather than being folded incorrectly into the base Angelus lab.
Planet-specific Space Age sciences from Vulcanus, Fulgora, Gleba and Aquilo are currently isolated from the Angel/Bob progression where they would otherwise create unintended cross-planet deadlocks.
Normal Space Science remains available where appropriate.
Angel/Bob Progression
Industrial Worlds contains compatibility handling for the current Angel/Bob ecosystem, including areas such as:
- Angel's Refining
- Angel's Petrochem
- Angel's Smelting
- Bob's Metals, Chemicals and Intermediates
- Bob's Technology
- Bob's laboratories
- Bob's alien and gold science
- Bob Classes
- Bob Enemies
- Angel/Bob ore generation
- tungsten processing
- lithium processing
- Space Age recipe and technology interactions
Forgeworks Core provides shared infrastructure used by Industrial Worlds.
Deprecated Angel's Industries support is retained only as best-effort legacy compatibility and is not part of the supported 0.0.4 configuration.
Release Validation
Industrial Worlds includes runtime diagnostic commands for testing world isolation.
/iw-diagnostics
Displays important Angelus progression and compatibility state.
/iw-audit
Checks Angel/Bob technology ownership and repairs certain progression-state inconsistencies where possible.
/iw-release-audit
Performs a read-only release/integrity audit of the current save.
It checks:
- technology ownership mismatches
- surface-aware research milestones
- incorrect resources or entities on Angelus
- Angel/Bob entities leaking onto Nauvis
- laboratory placement boundaries
- discovery and technology-gate state
The 0.0.4 release candidate has completed its supported configuration test with:
PASS — 0 blockers, 0 warnings, 0 technology-gate mismatches.
Current Compatibility
Industrial Worlds 0.0.4 targets:
Factorio 2.1 + Space Age
with the supported Angel/Bob industrial ecosystem and Forgeworks Core.
Exact behavior may vary when additional mods heavily rewrite Angel/Bob recipes, technologies, world generation or Space Age compatibility.
If another compatibility mod independently rewrites the same Angel/Bob + Space Age progression, it may conflict with Industrial Worlds.
Planned Industrial Worlds
Angelus is only the first industrial world.
Future versions are planned to extend the same architecture to other large overhaul ecosystems.
Planned targets include:
- Nullius
- Pyanodons
- Periodic Madness
These are planned future integrations and are not supported by version 0.0.4.
Each will receive its own world/progression compatibility work rather than simply being enabled globally on Nauvis.
Reporting Problems
For useful bug reports, please include:
- The exact Factorio error or screenshot.
- Your Industrial Worlds version.
- The relevant Angel/Bob mod versions.
- Output from
/iw-diagnosticsor/iw-release-auditwhen the game can load. - Whether the problem occurs on Nauvis, Angelus, or both.
Industrial Worlds is still expanding, so reports of progression deadlocks, recipes belonging to the wrong world, research completing on the wrong surface, or resources appearing where they should not are especially useful.
