Heavy Trucks (Vanilla+)

Half-track heavy trucks in the vanilla style. The Heavy Truck hauls cargo and is the base of the others: the Tanker Truck loads and unloads fluids at ordinary pumps like a fluid wagon, the Artillery Truck deploys on its stabilizers and fires artillery shells in a forward cone, and the Logistic Truck carries a roboport and the five logistic chests, a mobile logistics hub powered by its own solar panels.

Changelog

Version: 1.3.10
Date: 2026-10-13
  Changes:
    - The V3 launcher no longer needs Space Age. Without it, it is made from 1 heavy truck, 50 processing units, 50 low density structures, 20 electric engine units and 100 steel plates, and researched after Artillery and Space science.
  Balancing:
    - With Space Age, the V3 launcher comes earlier: after the three inner planets (Vulcanus, Fulgora and Gleba) and before Aquilo. Its recipe takes one thing from each: 1 heavy truck, 20 processing units, 20 low density structures, 20 tungsten plates, 10 supercapacitors and 20 carbon fiber (was quantum processors and lithium plates from Aquilo). Its research takes the science packs up to those three planets, no cryogenic science.
Version: 1.3.9
Date: 2026-10-03
  Changes:
    - Anti-air can shoot the V3 missile down in flight (New Turrets' flak cannon, and other mods' anti-air that aims at "air-unit" targets). Shot down, it blows up in the air and its warhead never lands. It takes a couple of flak cannons to stop one. Other turrets don't shoot at it.
Version: 1.3.8
Date: 2026-10-01
  Bugfixes:
    - The quality mark (alt mode) was drawn well away from the truck, at the far corner of its long box. It's near the middle of the truck now.
Version: 1.3.7
Date: 2026-10-01
  Bugfixes:
    - Logistic Truck: the buttons to open its chests (and its slots) in the truck window often ignored clicks, and needed several. The panel was built again several times a second to show the contents and the battery, and a click was lost when its button was replaced between pressing and releasing the mouse. It's built once now, and only the contents and the battery are updated.
Version: 1.3.6
Date: 2026-09-30
  Bugfixes:
    - The Radar Truck's radar could be damaged apart from the truck (by explosions or acid on it): if destroyed, it came back, but its circuit wires were lost. It can't be damaged now; the truck takes the hits.
Version: 1.3.5
Date: 2026-09-30
  Bugfixes:
    - Hovering the middle of a deployed Radar Truck showed a random name after the truck's (the game names every radar after a Kickstarter backer). It's gone.
Version: 1.3.4
Date: 2026-09-30
  Features:
    - The deployed Radar Truck shares circuit signals with the other radars, like the game's radar: wire it to your outpost and its signals reach your base (and the other way round). Plug the red or green wire into the middle of the deployed truck. Folding it drops the wires; deploying it again plugs back in those still within reach.
Version: 1.3.3
Date: 2026-09-30
  Features:
    - The trucks can be driven remotely, like the tank and the locomotive: from the map or remote view (with Heavy Trucks: Autopilot 1.0.1, the "Drive remotely" button in the truck window).
Version: 1.3.2
Date: 2026-09-28
  Bugfixes:
    - Stutter every 5 seconds on big maps, even with no trucks: the Artillery Truck, the V3 Launcher and the Radar Truck searched the whole map for trucks copied in the map editor. Copies are now picked up when they're made.
Version: 1.3.1
Date: 2026-09-28
  Bugfixes:
    - Removed the recycling recipes the game made for the mod's internal items (the targeting tool and the hidden guns that give the artillery truck and the V3 their ammo slot), which showed up as "... recycling".
Version: 1.3.0
Date: 2026-09-28
  Major Features:
    - Two new trucks.
    - V3 Launcher (Space Age): a late-game mobile launcher for one enormous missile, inspired by the V3 of Red Alert 2. It deploys on its stabilizers, raises the missile on its ramp and launches it in a 70° cone ahead, further than the artillery wagon reaches (300). The missile slides out of the ramp, climbs fast, cruises and dives onto the target, trailing smoke, and lands with an enormous explosion. It's seen on the map like an artillery shell, and the impact area is revealed live for a few seconds. One missile at a time, visible on its ramp; its nose and fins take the truck's colour.
    - Radar Truck: a radar on wheels. Driving, it has the range of the game's radar; stopped, it raises the mast (and lowers its stairs) for twice that. It runs on its own solar panels and battery, and charges from the grid when parked near a pole.
  Features:
    - New ammo: the V3 missile.
    - The artillery truck and the V3 load their ammo with inserters and Ctrl / Shift + click, like a tank's.
    - Firing while reloading shows how long is left, and it fires as soon as it's ready.
    - One targeting shortcut and the same keys for the artillery truck and the V3, with a new icon.
    - The new trucks' high-resolution graphics come in a new optional mod, "Heavy Trucks (Vanilla+): HD graphics Part 2" (the mod portal limits each mod's size).
  Changes:
    - The artillery truck and the V3 share their deployment, aiming, automatic mode and window code.
Version: 1.2.5
Date: 2026-09-28
  Bugfixes:
    - Opening a save in the map editor could crash ("attempt to index field 'cargo'"): the heavy truck's cargo reacted to the save's players being removed before the mod had set up its data.
Version: 1.2.4
Date: 2026-09-27
  Features:
    - Quality trucks: +10 % engine power per quality level (acceleration and top speed) and -5 % fuel per level; legendary: x1.5 power, x0.75 fuel.
    - Quality Tanker Truck: bigger tanks, like the fluid wagon (legendary: 62,500 each).
    - Quality Artillery Truck: longer range, like the artillery wagon (legendary: +50 %).
    - Quality Logistic Truck: its chests get more slots (legendary: 12). Trucks already built get them when picked up and placed again.
Version: 1.2.3
Date: 2026-09-27
  Features:
    - Heavy Truck: its deck fills up with cargo as its trunk does. Each used slot adds one more piece (crates, barrels, a folded-up inserter, pipes, a laser turret, a cable spool, a logistic robot on its charging pad...) up to 16, when the truck looks full.
    - New per-player setting "Show the Heavy truck's cargo" (on by default) to hide it.
Version: 1.2.2
Date: 2026-09-26
  Changes:
    - Artillery Truck: automatic mode no longer wastes shells. Like the game's artillery, it keeps track of the damage already on its way and doesn't fire again at targets that the shells in flight will destroy.
  Bugfixes:
    - Tanker Truck driven by the autopilot: it only hooks up to pumps while a truck stop holds it. Stopped for a moment next to a pump on its way out, it was shifted sideways and could scrape the stop's posts.
Version: 1.2.1
Date: 2026-09-26
  Features:
    - Artillery Truck: target priorities in automatic mode, like a turret's. List the enemies it should aim at first (biters, spitters, spawners, worms...) and optionally ignore unlisted targets. With nothing listed it behaves as before (spawners and worms).
    - Artillery Truck: in automatic mode it leads moving targets, aiming where they will be when the shell lands.
Version: 1.2.0
Date: 2026-09-25
  Features:
    - Autopilot (new required mod "Heavy Trucks: Autopilot"): trucks drive themselves between truck stops following a schedule, like trains.
    - Truck stop (Heavy logistics technology): holds the truck in place, with barriers and side walls; pumps next to it hook up to the tanker truck.
    - Truck window copied from the locomotive's: schedule and truck tabs. The tanker's tanks, the artillery truck's ammo and gun controls and the logistic truck's chests are now in the truck tab.
    - The artillery truck can deploy on a truck stop (without its legs).
    - Artillery range, shooting speed and damage research now shows its effect on the artillery truck.
    - New crafting and technology icons.
  Changes:
    - Standard-resolution graphics: the mod goes from about 160 MB to about 10 MB. The high-resolution graphics are now the optional mod "Heavy Trucks (Vanilla+): HD graphics" (heavy-trucks-hd), used automatically when it's enabled.
    - Collision boxes are now symmetric (the game turned asymmetric ones wrongly for trucks facing east or west).
    - Code comments translated to English.
Version: 1.1.1
Date: 2026-09-25
  Balancing:
    - Logistic Truck: the recipe takes 5 steel chests instead of the five logistic chests; with its circuits it costs the same as the chests, without counting them twice.
  Bugfixes:
    - Logistic Truck: fixed one frame of the track animation that was rendered darker, making the tracks flicker.
Version: 1.1.0
Date: 2026-09-25
  Balancing:
    - Artillery Truck: half the range of the artillery wagon (112, was 448).
    - Artillery Truck: the recipe takes an artillery turret instead of an artillery wagon.
    - Logistic Truck: the recipe takes the five logistic chests, 10 solar panels and 10 accumulators (was 2 solar panels and 5 batteries), matching what it carries.
    - Logistic Truck: trunk reduced from 80 to 20 slots; its cargo goes in the logistic chests.
  Features:
    - Logistic Truck: charges from the power grid when parked within reach of a power pole.
Version: 1.0.1
Date: 2026-09-25
  Graphics:
    - Added the mod thumbnail.
Version: 1.0.0
Date: 2026-09-25
  Features:
    - Heavy Truck: half-track truck with a 160-slot cargo bed; the base of the other trucks.
    - Tanker Truck: two isolated tanks of 25,000 each; loads and unloads at ordinary pumps with the vanilla connector arm, like a fluid wagon.
    - Artillery Truck: deploys on four stabilizers and fires vanilla artillery shells in a 70° cone ahead, with twice the range of the artillery wagon. Manual fire by the driver (also from the map with its targeting tool, which shows the range cone) or automatic fire at spawners and worms.
    - Logistic Truck: a compact roboport (logistics 25, construction 50) and the five logistic chests travel with the truck, also while driving. Solar panels and a 50 MJ battery keep it powered.
    - Each truck can be disabled with a startup setting (except the Heavy Truck).
