It's a gameplay thing! I found that knowing exactly where the enemies were, how many there were and when they were attacking, took a lot of the suspense and fun out of it. I definitely enjoy using flashlights, lit up bullets and fires to gather info a lot more.
With Space Age I naturally just extended the hide enemies setting to hide all enemies. However this doesn't necessarily make much sense on Vulcanus so I've made it a separate setting that is disabled by default, because giant worms should probably show up on radars.
I could have just disabled it for them completely but I'm sure there are (or will be) some situations where mods put them on other planets or give them different behaviour that would benefit from the toggle.
